Has Budget ever had a problem having enough vehicles for those wanting them after they get off the ship. I will be dropping one off before my cruise and will want to pick up after. Would I be better off just keeping the car even though I wont need it for a week. Does it take a long time to rent? we want to get to a disney park asap after we get in to port and I don't want to waste a lot of time. About what time can I realistically expect to be on my way to Disney?

I would just book it at the time your booking the one for going to the ship.

You would have to pay $10 a day to park at the port, so I would not keep it for the week.

I would certainly make sure to book 2 one-way rentals. I wouldn't assume that they have a car just because I dropped one off there before my cruise. Doing 2 one-way rentals was the cheapest option for my family of 4. Paying for parking at the port certainly would have had the price along the same lines as booking the DCL transfers. HTH

I would think (or hope) that with an existing reservation they would have enough cars for everyone. DH and I hopped off the ship ~8:15, had to wait a little while at Budget and we pulled up to the Magic Kingdom around 10 am. It definately gave us a nice, full day at MK.

We've done both scenarios. We always go to FLA the day before we leave for the cruise. The first year we cruised we stayed at The Radisson and left the car in their lot. If you stay there, you can get a "cruise" rate and you can leave your car for the duration of your cruise for free in their parking lot. They shuttle you to the terminal.

This year we stayed at Ron Jon's and rented a car from Budget from the airport had it for a day and a half, then returned it to the Budget in Port Canaveral and they shuttled us to the terminal. Then when we got back from the cruise, we shuttled back to Budget in PC, rented the car for the day and then returned back at the airport. We pre-booked everything so perhaps that made it easier!

We will probably do the same thing next year as we did this year. Both scenarios went very smoothly and quickly. No time was wasted!

We have done several one-way Budget rentals. They have never run out of cars, but here are two things to note:

1) We rent the smallest car, but all but one time we have been upgraded to larger (Taurus) since the port location is much smaller and has less vehicle choice than the airport.

2) There is no gas pump at the port area location, so you'll get whatever gas was left by the previous person. It's always been enough to get us to the airport, but make sure that they mark it on the paperwork so you can return in at the same level (rather than filling all the way) at the airport.

After we get off the ship can I send someone from our family to Budget to get the van we rented and have them come back to port and pick us up? Or do we all have to go on the shuttle with the luggage to get the car? I hope we can send the men to get the van and have them come back to pick us up. We are a party of 8 and lots of luggage.

.........how were your stays at the 2 different hotels? Which do you prefer and why? Thank you for your help! -Dizma :wave2:

Ive only booked 2 one way rentals with Budget and never had a problem.

One time we even got upgraded at the Cocoa Beach Budget because they needed the vehicle at MCO...
