Budget Rent a Car through Costco price drop

The price of car rental through Costco travel for Budget Rent A Car just dropped. I am flying in and out of SNA Feb 16-22. The price of a standard size car dropped by $40 from 3 days ago so my rental cost is 135 including taxes and fees. The price drop might be because I am so close to my departure date. I have read on other threads that prices drop close to the date and change often. That has been true for me.

I booked the first rental car in October for a Jan 28the 5day trip $324. I kept watching and the rate went up and down. Each time they went down I re-booked at the lower rate and canceled the other one. I think I did this about 6 times.

From a beginning rate of $525, I finally got the same thing for $126.11. I was shocked!! A Mini Van for Monday thru Saturday for $126.11 is the best I've ever done.

Look when you first know you'll need a car and look often there after. It sure paid off for me.

I was shocked at how low I was able to get our rental for through Costco. We originally had a reservation directly through one company, and it was an ok rate. The cheapest one we could find. Then I remembered recently that Costco does travel, so I checked through them and was able to drop our rate from about $263 for the whole week down to $144!

Is it easy to cancel with Costco (or do you cancel directly through Budget?) if they offer a lower rate later?

It is easy to cancel a rental car reservation with Costco Travel. I just sign into my account and it shows my reservations. I choose the reservation I want to cancel and click on it and it gives me the option to cancel it.
I don't think you really have to cancel though since you don't have to give a credit card to secure the reservation. I like to cancel just to keep things straight. We leave on Saturday and I will keep checking to see if the rate goes ant lower.
