Budget or Avis.

Which car rental agency would you chose for a 1 day rental from the Port to MCO after a 7 day cruise with a Saturday pick up? Who has the quickest lines and best shuttles?

I would choose the one with the better rate!

Seriously, the lines will all depend on your luck...maybe there will be no one in front of you or maybe there will be 25 people in front of you. The shuttles come along pretty regularly no matter which company you use.

Go for the rate!

Budget or Avis.

We've signed up at Avis as preferred members. At most airports, we go right to our car. At MCO you go to the outside kiosk. They hand you the keys and y ou are off.

At Port Canaveral, it's smaller, but I think there still is a preferred line. Anyway no paperwork..they hand you the keys and your are off.

Avis' isn't on site -- I don't think any of them are. They are mostly on Hwy A1A south towards Cocoa Beach. But the good rental car companies (I consider Avis one of them) are running 2 or 3 shuttle busses continuously on the days that cruise shops land.

As you come off the ship, with your bags (the porters can be quite helpful), you walk to the rental car pick up location, then wait 5~15 minutes (max) for a bus.

We had a good experience with the Avis pickup. For what it's worth, the drop-off 4 days earlier wasn't as good since I just missed the (only) shuttle that was running.

I would be fascinated to hear what other experiences were, especially with Budget since Budget/Avis are owned by the same company.
