Budget Calling Cards

My DS is racking up cellphone minutes while away at college. Surprisingly, he is not calling home. He is calling his GF who is at a college 3 hours away. I was thinking of getting him a calling card so he can use the phone in his dorm room to call his GF. I found one for $52.00 for 1500 minutes, but i have no clue if that is a good deal or not.
Does anyone know other places to get calling cards at a good price.

I make DS20 limit his calls for the most part to after 9PM when it's free on our plan. As late as college kids stay up, it shouldn't be a problem for them.

My daughter's boyfriend switched cell companies so they could have free mobile to mobile minutes. Another good option.

IDT has the cheapest calling cards I've found... the question is whether she lives in the same state he does or not... if she lives out of state the calls will be cheaper than if she lives in state..

Another option, if he dorm room has an internet connection he might consider using a skype phone... it would use the internet connection and if she would also invest in a skype phone.. they would be able to talk to each other all day long every day for free (excluding the cost of skype).

Didn't even think of Skype. I may have to look into it. She is in the same state, so I know the calling cards wouldn't be that much of a costsaver.

You can always introduce him to a pay as you go phone like net10. Then he will get instant feed back on how much money he is spending with the girl friend.
