Budget Birthday Goodie Bags

Ring pops!

A small toy, like a LPS (we did this one year for DD when she turned four).

Or, CVS has small mani or pedi kits for 2.99, that might be fun for the girls. You could buy a multi pack of small nail polish and split it up? And if you are a CVS-er you can use extra bucks for that.

Or a coupon for a free ice cream. We've done that before, big hit!

I also think less is more. No one wants a bag full of plastic toys.

Hope your DD has a great birthday!

Oh, last idea -- I stole this from my friend for DD's 5th b'day. Took one Nerds rope, and used a pipe cleaner to attach a silk flower to it, tied it with a tulle bow. A little bouquet! The girls loved them. Cheap, esp. if you get the Nerds rope on sale from xmas and clearance silk flowers.

I def will not be doing the small plastic junk toys... thats not what I want! I did find the candy bar wrapper template put my DD's pic on it and info and she loved the wrappers when I showed her last night... SO I will just have to buy 4 Hersey bars and I will be set - and add these to the bags my daughter put together with nail polish, silly bands, a lip gloss - plus I think I might do the pass it game and see if I can find four small gifts to use for this - my daughter said she wanted to pick them out but I told her I wanted it to be a surprise :) - Thanks for all the help

Hoping to get some ideas by bumping this thread.

My daughter's 6th bday party is going to be a bounce house party. The party place provides all of the paper goods in bright colors, but I'm making a Scooby-Doo cake for the party.

I cannot for the life of me come up with a Scooby themed goody bag/party favor idea. I found some jumbo 96-page Scooby coloring books online that are $1.60 apiece shipped. Do you think a large coloring book with a package of markers tied together is okay?

This is the part of kids' parties that I hate...trying to tie the party theme together...

One of my daughter's classmates had a Scooby-Doo party at Vista Ridge Mall last year. She got a couple homemade Scooby favors: a party mix CD of the birthday girl's favorite songs with a Scooby-Doo label on it, and one of those bottlecap necklaces that all the little girls are into with a Scooby-Doo bottlecap. The mom tied them up in brightly colored cellophane bags, threw in a few pieces of candy, and tied a helium balloon to each one. My 6-year old loved it.

I think a coloring book is fine. You could even go one step further and make those do-it-yourself candy bar wrappers. Put a picture of Scooby-Doo on it with the words "Thanks for coming to Rachel's Party!" on the front. A box of Hershey Bars is pretty inexpensive at Wal-Mart.
