I am trying to help a friend plan a trip - I love the challenge. I am having a problem with trying to find a decent airfare. They want certain times, direct flight, and will not fly Airtran. Their daughter (3) has juvenile diabetes and they don't want to deal with the insulin in the airport. Any help you can give me when there is not a lot of options would be appreciated. Thanks

sherry,
Can you tell us which airports they are near and what are dates/timeframes?... How far would they be willing to drive?

They don't want to fly on Airtran, but would they consider SWA?

We are in the Philadelphia area, I don't think they'll travel to another airport. I believe SWA doesn't fly into Philly. They want to leave approximately 11-12 oclock and return 2-3 oclock. Dates are December 10 - 15. Thanks

sherry,
Wow, you really do have a challenge! I didn't see anything reasonable from PHL, either.

Just brainstorming, I looked at departing Atlantic City (ACY).... As you said before--they may not want to drive, but I thought I would look... The best I could find was
Spirit Air
275 10Dec Tue ACY TPA 01:10P 03:40P $72.00
276 14Dec Sat TPA ACY 04:50P 07:15P $72.00
Airfare: $133.96
Federal Excise Tax: $10.04
Segment Fees: $6.00
Passenger Facility Charge: $7.50
Security Tax: $5.00
Per Passenger Total: $162.50
(TPA=Tampa. Tampa is about 1 hour's drive from WDW--not that much further than MCO)

I also checked MCO (Orlando). The fare was about 175 pp total rt and departed ACY around 3pm and MCO around 10am--so, the times didn't line up, either....

I would say--keep checking and maybe there will be a fare sale for non-stops out of PHL.

Sherry,

Since your friends are so particular, it may be impossible to meet their wants. I have found that the key to cheap airfare is flexability.

Good luck!

Thanks so much for all of your help. I agree, it may be an impossible situation.

Sherry,
I'm not sure how close you are to say, Rochester Ny? because Jetblue flies out of there for about 79 dollars each way to Orlando. They have limited flight cities but the planes are great....new and with tv's. Check out their website
www.jetblue.com and maybe theres a closer airport to connect into. Good Luck, Rick

I assume your friends know this, but.. be sure to tell them that the insulin and supplies must be carry on! I would hate to think what would happen if their luggage was lost with all the insulin.

Sherry,

After flying many times on US Air, I'm flying Airtran for the first time this fall. That makes me curious as to why your friend refuses to fly Airtran. Just wondering! Hope I haven't booked myself some trouble.

Pat
