I think all of the Boise State fan's good karma(and wearing of the colors) sent in the Gator's direction made the difference...........Congrats Gators !

Was that not the BEST ever?!?! Seriously, it almost tops beating FSU for the national championship (I said almost). Florida was slammed, disrespected, and overall dismissed as a threat. A national champion shows up to every game ready to win, and that's what Florida did! No excuses.

It's GREAT to BE a FLORIDA GATOR!!!

What does BCS stand for? Thanks. All I could think of last evening was Big College Schools...:rolleyes1

BCS stands for:

Because we're greedy, there
Can be no playoff;
Screw fairness and the fans.

Not quite a haiku, but it gets the point across. :headache: :sad1: :sad2:

If any game proved we need college football playoffs, it was last night. OSU was not the #1 team in the country. Heck, they didn't even look top 10 last night. The only reason they were there is because our stupid system rates teams before they even play a single game, and because of the hype OSU got the #1 spot from the beginning, and since they didn't lose a game during their weak schedule, they got to stay #1. It is rediculous.

Oh you are sooo going to love this! You can blame the Big 10 for being a major roadblock with regard to a playoff system! :rotfl: http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/news?slug=jo-delany010507&prov=yhoo&type=lgns

Thanks to Bob Slydell for the link yesterday. ;)

Regardless of the #1 ranking preseason, they would have been #1 by the end of the season, assuming they weren't completely out of the rankings in the preseason. Their schedule wasn't nearly as weak as everyone made it out to be. It wasn't one of the strongest years for the Big 10, but it's not like they're playing in the WAC or some second-tiered conference.

RE: Playoffs - if division II and III schools can do it, there is no reason that division I schools can't. The powers that be could even incorporate the BCS bowls if they wanted to.

A playoff would be great. The rankings are always so weird; it really is amazing where one team can be at the beginning and wind up at the end.

And no, OSU did not play like the #1 team last night. That's why they have the championship game, I guess. But was Florida #1 because they got the chance to beat OSU? If USC hadn't blinked in their loss to UCLA, what then? What about Boise State? They're undefeated, unlike Florida. This is why we need a playoff.

You're welcome :teeth:

And kudos to your University's President -- IIRC, didn't he come out in support of a playoff system yesterday? :thumbsup2
He has voiced his support for some time now. :) I think it started when he was at Utah. ;)

I think ANY system would be flawed. Do we HAVE to have a NATIONAL championship? After all, so many teams and football has a short season. It's not like basketball. I think we should go back to the conference championships and the bowl games with no #1 rating. It's just stupid. Boise State, USC,OSU,Florida all have a claim to #1 in some way. I think they should all be happy to be considered top ten status. If you've watched OSU play football this year, you know that the team last night was NOT the team we here in Columbus are familiar with. Maybe there should be virtual championships where both teams play vitually on the best day! lol! I think the whole contraversy is dumb, dumb, dumb. Before you accuse me of being a disgruntled OSU fan, know that the banner in my son's room reads, "GO BLUE"

True, I've heard basketball commentators complain about only getting one chance to beat the opposing team in the playoffs. Which I think is hilarious. But I think either get rid of the BCS and do the old bowls or go for playoffs.
