I don't know if I mentioned it in my dining review I did a few weeks ago after we got back from our trip, but I tried Bubble Tea in China (the counter service restraunt) for the first time. :drinking1

It was great!! It reminded me of chocolate milk, and I even enjoyed the chewy jello like globs in it too. lol My fave part though was the little gummy candies at the bottom. What a treat. :flower:

We love the bubble tea in China! I think the little "balls" are actually tapioca but I'm not sure.

NO WAY!!! I was just there last month and didn't even think to see if they had bubble tea. I LOVE bubble tea. I am a bubble tea fanatic. I need to tell DH, he will be miffed that we missed it! Maybe I can convince him to go back ;)

the 'bubbles' are usually tapioca balls. sometimes they add in coconut jellies.

I LOVE  bubble tea. My DBF hates it and says the tapioca balls are like snot balls  We have a bubble tea cafe where I live, it is great!

The bubble tea rocks! I had more people stop me in Epcot and ask what I was drinking when I last got that. It is yummy and fun! :flower:

I tried that tea last year with my lunch and thought it was nice. ::MickeyMo

Thanks for the review! MY DBF is talks about boba (bubble tea) a lot but I've never had it. I'm anxious to try it at Epcot on this trip!

I don't think I would like chewy floating things in my drink. :earseek:

I am really grossed out. LOL I am sitting here thinking.. well it must be liked by quite a few people.. but all I can think is.. eewwwwww.

Yeesh! Bubble tea.... makes the little hairs stick up on the back of my neck. A friend was drinking it and I had no idea what it was. She offered a sip which I gratefully accepted since I was so thirsty. Sucked up a mouthful and instantly thought, "Oh my God, Diana's boogers are in the drink... this isn't funny..." Had to spit it out.

Haven't been able to look at bubble tea since...

I'm not a huge fan, but it's good once in a while. I like it better when it's actual tea, and not just sweet drinks. I suppose if you don't like the consistency of tapioca, then you probably won't like the drink.

I am seriously addicted to this stuff. I didn't try it at Epcot however. I like the fruit flavors - like peach or mango - made with green tree (sometimes with milk and sometimes not).

The tapioca pearls are dark brown/black looking and round and taste a bit like gummi bears.

I'm planning on trying it next trip - what flavors are available?

I'm so glad you posted that they have it...I saw Rachel Ray try it on $40 a Day on the Food Network not too long ago and really wanted to try it for myself. I'm putting it on my "Must Have" list for January. Thanks! :cool1:

When I got it in Feb at the counter service in China there was just one kind. It was a sweetened black tea with cream and the bubbles... I believe that was the only kind.

Sorry.. it may not have been funny to YOU.. but your post really made me laugh.

That would totally gross me out too. I can't even drink orange juice with pulp in it.

OMG!!! People actually like the Bubble Tea at the China Pavillon!!! :earseek: :earseek:

We can get Bubble Tea in NYC in numerous places so I know what it is suppose to taste like.

After my previous comments and posts about eating at Nine Dragons multiple times and never having a good meal yet, DH & I decided to at least get something at the fast food place while we were walking by to try it out.

I ordered the Bubble Tea. How could they not provide the extra wide straws if they serve bubble tea. There is no way to suck up the Tapioca with the regular straws. Oh well, just use the spoon.

I took a sip and didn't say anything and handed it to DH for a sip. Yuck! This tastes chocolate milk! Yup! Just like chocolate milk with tapioca and jelly in it that you have to eat with a spoon! Not bubble tea! Much too sweet. I tried to get DH to drink it or throw it away 'cause I really didn't like it. DH refused to throw it away. For $3+, he insisted I finish it! He helped me eat the tapioca but made me drink the nauseatingly sweet chocolate milk because he hated the taste!

Oh well, at least someone likes it. If you like sweet chocolate milk, it is an interesting drink - but not for kids because of the choking hazard. But if you like bubble TEA, you may not like it. I couldn't taste any tea in it.

I'll be spending this weekend in NYC with DD and we will be heading to Chinatown for bubble tea. I've only had it in the city and since I like it so much, I think I'll pass on the WDW chocolate milk taste.

They had three flavors in July 2004, and I hope they still do. I think I had a lychee flavored and it was really quite good, and it had the really big straw as well. The one thing my kids wouldn't take away from me--they didn't like the "gooey floaty things!"--tapioca. Hope to have one again in July! :cool1:
