The UG says that this a good place for BBQ, so we are planning on this for our first night coming in from the airport. I took a look on their website and the menu looks good!

I was wondering if anyone has ever been to Bubbalous, and if, so, what location do you prefer? There looks to be one on 1200 Challenger Parkway (on the way from the airport) and one not far from Universal (Turkey Lake area).

And... is it good BBQ?

Poking my head in to answer this one (been busy packing and such - moving back to Orlando THURSDAY  )

Bubbalou's is our favorite BBQ place here in Orlando - tied with Smokey Bones (the one here at least, it's excellent even though it's a corporate chain) and Cecil's BBQ in downtown. We've been dozens of times.

Are you coming in from the Sanford airport? Because the one on Challenger Parkway is on the east side of town, where I live - by no means near MCO airport or Disney. If you're coming in MCO, you'll want to do the one near Universal.

The baby backs are fantastic, as well as the turkey, sausage, pulled pork...heck, everything's good. We've never had a bad or even mediocre meal here.

If you want really good BBQ, my family swears by Sonny's. We bring home their sweet sauce and use it to grill with all summer long!!

Ok, gotta put my $.02 about Sonny's. Not my cup of tea at all! The sauce is very sweet and if you get it to go, the sauce is in individual packets, like ketchup. Maybe it's because I live in the south and we know what good bbq taste like and it's not Sonny's. The Sonny's we had here closed and the new store that opened an hour away I've been told by family members is not good. My good friend lives in Orlando and claims that the Sonny's there is pretty good, but she is not a very picky eater. :teeth: If you like a sweet sauce, then you might like it. DH and I go for the sauce with a spicy kick which might explain why we don't like Sonny's.

A lot of people on the Dis boards talk about how good Flametree in AK is and how their ribs are so good, but I cannot get the nerve to try it due to the great BBQ in my area.

Oh, God… poor Yankees… thinking that some mediocre chain store like Sonny’s is great BBQ… I’m on the verge of tears… when God blessed the South with the best BBQ on Earth it was a beautiful day for us Suthrons, but a sad day indeed for the rest of the world… :sad2:

In all seriousness though, we have Sonny’s and all the other chains here, but the best places are almost always the local places.

My DW went to the Bubbalous near Universal in March and it was pretty good. The Fried Mac & Cheese bites were different – never had them before, but would prefer a less sharp cheddar for the sauce – something on the milder side for me, thanks.

I believe we both had beef sandwiches, which were good and flavorfull, the way BBQ should be – not too dry, not too moist – add the sauce yourself to your own preference. And the sauces were pretty good, too, btw.

Not our favorite BBQ place on Earth (I’m a big fan of Park Ave BBQ in South Fla, haven’t seen them anywhere outside of the West Palm Beach area… and some local places in North Fla are great, too…), but Bubbalous is certainly a Grade A quality BBQ joint – not fancy at all, cheap, and good, the way BBQ should be. BBQ isn’t fancy and isn’t supposed to be fancy. If you want a fancy meal, go somewhere else. If you want a good, ole fashioned Southern BBQ joint with wooden bench tables and rolls of paper towels for napkins, then you can’t go wrong at Bubbalous. :wave2:

LOL.....true what you said, but we have better pizza and cheesesteaks up here in the north !

I called Bubbalous to see if they deliver to resorts inside and outside of WDW. They do, BUT, they charge a flat $35 delivery fee
We're always looking for places that have good food and will deliver to the hotel. Looks like we'll have to go pick up this food.

Having been to Bubbalous often I say go for it. The food there is great. If you like really hot sauce, ask for the one they keep behind the counter. I don't use it myself, but one of my old co-workers who loves very hot and spicy food use to always get it.
