I had always resisted having an answerphone but couldn't resist 1571 when it was offered, particularly since it is a free service!
The only problem I have had was remembering to check for messages! Unless I put the phone to my ear I didn't notice the interrupted dialling tone!

We discontinued it whilst we were away ( so nobody got the wrong impression and thought we weren't returning their calls!), but have had it re-instated.... it's very useful if you use your line for the internet as well :) !

Shirley - I love it - I paid for the extra service so that I can access messages whilst away from home which is very handy and yes you're right it's very useful if you only have one line for the internet and phone - BUT I always forget to check the phone once I've been on line.;)

We have 1571 too. Got it because it was free and so we can check after we have been online. Remeber to check it most times.

Unfortunatley Shirley when we changed to cable phone they didn't have this or they charged for this....anyway - we don't have it so we had to buy a answer machine..:)

Yep we have it too,its ideal for when we are on the net,as we run a business to so they can leave msgs we too always forget to check it but ahh well its a good thing to have!

Beth;)
*i want to go back* :(

We have it too and when I'm on the Internet I leave my mobile phone on and the message diverts to my mobile! I found the instructions in the Call Minder booklet.

It is handy because my Mum seems to think we are always on the Internet ;) so she leaves a message and I just disconnect and call her back.

We've had CallMinder since it was first introduced as a paid service and love it. Particularly useful as a back up when online once in a while! When we paid for the service it used to ring you within five minutes of freeing up the line so it has been a chore to get used to pickin up the phone to see if there's a message noew it's free- the ringback thingy seems hitty missy now.

Love the facility to ring from me moby while we're away- set the callminder to zero rings and it lets me straight in and gives the impression to callers we're at home on the line too.

Helen, this divertin to yer moby thing - does that mean the caller pays mobile rates or does it cost the receiver more?

Another devotee here, mainly because of the time I spend on-line! :o

I didn't know about the diverting option - must look into that one.

We have this and it IS really useful.BUT I do often forget to check for messages.

Once when DD was late in and I was very worried, when she came in she had no idea why I was frantic as it turns out she'd left a message on 1571 and I didn't even think to check it:(

I dont use it that much - we have an answerphone on the business lines and also on the house number, purely because of the business again. I find 1471 really usefull though. What service from BT I make the most use of though is Ringback - if you try a number and it's engaged, if you press 5 and hang up - it will call you back when the number is free. This works a treat for me and I find it so useful. The other facility I use is Call Diversion. When I go out I automaticaly just divert all calls from the office number onto my mobile - so I could be wandering round the shops, or sitting outside my mum's caravan, and I dont miss the call in the office :) :) :)

All clever stuff!

Hi Dave

never got back on the Internet last night my son was online - cheek!

When my mobile phone rings I get the same message that I would get if I dailed 1571. I can then press one to hear the message and decide whether I am going to call back or carry on surfing for a while - LOL.
