BTM and a cowering customer

Okay silly question 1009

Considering that in October Frontierland turns into Halloweenland and I have a real problem with ghost trains [its a long story involving a ride attendant on a jungle ride who thought it was amusing to frighten 2 small girls...] if I venture onto BTM am I going to be confronted with THINGS THAT LEAP OUT AND GO BOO at me.

I really hate THINGS THAT LEAP OUT AND GO BOO

It's weird really because I love a good horror movie I just can't stand rides like ghost trains where stuff is designed to make you jump.

You can probably imagine that Phantom Manor is NOT on my list of things to do at DLP.

I shall now go and cower in a corner, simultaneously haning my head in embarrassment!

Phantom Manor is not that scary - it's actually quite light hearted in a lot of places and especially with its recent overhaul I'd say it's a 'must see' attraction.

I'm not a fan of scary rides but this one is a lot of fun.

It's only fair to warn you that the pre-ride room does go pitch black before the doors open and attendants do have a tendancy to grab people's shoulders - once you get past that it's fun all the way!

I feel such an ejit! I'm fine watching really scarey movies on my own with the lights out etc but put me on a ghost train and I just can't hack it.

I would feel really silly, especially surrounded by small kids who all think it's great

WE visited in Oct 2002 & there was nothing jumping out at you in BTM

Frontierland was full of pumpkins & there was a morning parade with a Halloween theme.

There were living statues at the enterance to P Manor who did make my youngest DS jump.

I didslike the thought of anything or anyone jumping out at me but did manage to ride PM.

I'm reassured to hear that Disney Owl. I want to go on EVERYTHING but I can't be doing with the kind of scarey ride where stuff leaps out and grabs you. Goind on my own, I've no one else to hide behind

Still, I will give it a go - it's Disney - How scarey can it be?

The scariest thing about Phantom Manor is the story. Nothing jumps out at you so it's not scary in that sense. Don't know what others think but I find it 10 times scarier without the narrator like in WDW as you hear the bride shrieking in the hallway of door-knockers which is usually shrouded by Vincent Price's storytelling.

Also Madame Leota's chants are a wee bit scarier at PM

Im with you on this one Nik.

My problem is that I dont mind scarry rides but when people jump out at you and your unprepared it sends me into a quivering fool and I shake for hours.

I'm 40 and my DD8 findws it hysterically funny. The last time we did PM I had a boo-er at the end of the ride and its put me off going in again.

the only time ive ever been to DLRP was for the day many years ago and in the queue area in PotC a pirate jumped out at me with a huge sword and chased me down the queue. Most people had not noticed him sitting there as it was very dark..but I did, because I hate that kind of light where you cant quite see... and my eyes were on stalks... he saw me clock him, and jumped out.... I was absolutely TERRIFIED. In fact I dont think i will do that this time just in case!

I think dlpSteve might have meant a big refurbishment recently, when they returned a lot of effects to their former glory and fixed lots of things around the manor.

Phantom Manor seems to me like a kinda "upmarket" version of the Haunted Mansions - from the lack of things jumping out at you to the beautiful orchestral musical and brilliant story of the bride, its just simply very very lavish and not at all scary.

The CMs might play a few tricks, but they're not as bad as the Pirates CMs with their swords and loud "Arrrrr!"s.

I loved Phantom Manor...but my 10 year old godson was rather disappointed as it wasn't scary at all!!!!!

Howveer ....he was scared in Snow White

The wierd thing is that I absolutely adore horror movies of the goriest kind and can sit through them on my own in an empty cinema. Stick me on a Ghost Train of any sort and I go to bits. I've still not had the bottle to do PM.

Just back today. Phantom Manor sticks with the regular story of the bride and a runaway groom. If my 6 and 4 year old go thru it and don't scream then you will manage. Nothing jumps out. You sit in the car and go round the ride. BTM in one of the tunnels has some lighting effects of what looked like bats. That was before we got stuck on it and had to be rescued. Pirates was a good ride as well.

We fastpassed BTM and there were 8 of us. 4 got put on the first train and dd and I and my friend and her dd were right at the front. (now there is a long story in my friend being late on trains the day before so we blame her for it all.) We came towards the end of the ride and we stopped. We seemed to be there for ages. Finally we got released from our carriages and had to walk to the end of the line. Dh was filming the train stuck halfway up the mountain thinking we were there. They were stuck there still when we came off Phantom manor. Worked fine the next day though. Dd was a bit scepticle though.

Now that kind of thing I do hate! It's one of the main reasons I don't go on 'ghost trains' as such. When we were kids my sister and I went on a jungle ride - similar to Snow White but with lions and what not - we were fine and having a great time until one of the ride operators decided it would be fun to terrify the life out of a couple of kids doing the ride on their own. I've never been comfortable doing that kind of ride since. I hate it when that happens. Mind you, I now walk with a stick so I can't imagine I'm a likely target for that kind of thing!

When I went on phantom Manor is semptember 05, the CM scared the life out of me, I ran away screaming and been laughed at by my dd who was 3 at the time. dd loves the ride and calls it the scoobi doo ride.
