Is it bad if you have a bruise with a red spot in the middle of it? I bashed my knuckle into a wall on accident yesterday. There was a little bit of swelling and now it's a little stiff, but still moves. There's also a round bruise about 1/4" in diameter with a red spot/line in the middle of it. I wasn't overly concerned about it, because I still have some movement, but I'm not so sure about that red spot.

I know, I know, it's one of those threads. :guilty:

I've had bruises with a red spot in them. I don't know why that happened but they did go away.

The red spot is the point of injury.. there is probably fresh blood there and the darker area is older blood... it should be fine but if the swelling doesn't go away in a week or if it hurts more then you should get it looked at....

The ability to move your finger does not indicate if it is broken or not--more often then not you can still move a limb even if a bone is broken. Where is the bruise in relation to where you hit your knuckle? If you squeeze the sides of your finger together does it hurt where you hit your knuckle or does the pain appear somewhere else?
