This morning I took DS to school and headed to my sister's to finish up some papers for school. Around 10:30 I went to Publix to pick up a few last minute things and ended up buying "Freaky Friday". It was at the check-out counter and DS had been asking for it. Since we have a portable DVD player (A Godsend), I thought it would be a nice surprise. I put in in his booster seat , so he would see it when I picked him up. Went to his school and picked him up around noon. He was really surprised and happy with the movie.
We got home and finished packing up, etc. DH got home and showered and we left around 2pm. On the turnpike at 2:04 to be exact.
There was some rain and traffic on the way up and we made one stop, but got off the turnpike at 5:04. I can't tell you how many times this has happned-we get there in EXACTLY 3 hours to the minute! Ds coughed a little on the way up. Must be coming down with a little cold (foolish mortals!)
We got to Pop Century just before 5:30. We were so EXCITED. It was really neat to see a new resort. We went and took a bathroom break and I went to check in while DH and DS checked out the lobby. There was no line for check-in and a very nice CM named Nan checked me in. I paid the balance of the room in cash.
We were in the fifties section, 4th floor. Our room was 2432 (overlooking some woods). It was very cold and drizzly and I couldn't believe that there were people in the pool! Anyway, we walked around the gift shop for a bit and then went to get our car and drove our to our room.
So far, I just LOVED this resort (after I'd sworn off the All -Stars). I said, "If I love the room, I'm sold". Well, the room was soooooo nice!!!!!!! The colors were tan, blue, and some other very muted colors. The bedspreads were really cute , the picture on the wall was adorable, with different memorobilia from the fifties and more important- the light fixtures were normal! The table and chairs were nicer than those at the All Stars (by leaps and bounds). The table was larger. The cabinet that held the TV and drawers looked better than the TV just sitting on top of a "dresser". The furniture was a brown, wood color, very soothing. On to the bathroom- larger vanity with a granite-looking top, small shelf under the mirror. The bathroom shower curtain and wall paper was green and cream and there were hidden Mickey's in the wall paper. There was a iron, ironing board and I had my own hairdryer. I was set as far as I was concered (since I don't drink coffee). This room definitely won me over! The whole resort seemed so much NICER than the All Stars.
We dropped off our luggage and headed to the food court!!!
DS had the Pepperoni Pizza, Dh had a cheese steak wrap and I had the Mom's meatloaf dinner-yum!!! We bought a mug to share. Total was 31.00 -with our Disney Dining Experience. Yes, it is good at the Value food courts!!!
Went shopping after. I have to say , it was very smart of them to put the gift shop right behind the food. You basically have to walk through there to get in and out. Got my Minnie antenna topper and started my charm bracelet with a Castle charm.
DH and DS went to the arcade. They even had prizes there. DS loved it! We unpacked and went to bed at 8pm. We are all feeling sick-the room is so DRY!
Note to self- don't leave home without the humidifier!
