Can anyone tell me about the Brown Derby. How is the food, what do they serve, any characters??? Also do you have pictures???

I think it's great! it's a nicer, more upscale restaurant modeled after the Brown Derby restaurant (the one with the caricatures all over the wall - in Hollywood). We found it to be relaxing and a nice leasurely meal. No characters (MGM doesn't have any character meals right now).

Here is a dinner menu: http://www.allearsnet.com/menu/menu_bd.htm

We all had fish entrees there and they were DELICIOUS and beautifully plated! Appetizers were great as well, and the desserts were yummy =) I have pictures saved somewhere, and I posted them in my reviews but I'm sure they are several pages back - you can do a search for Brown Derby and probably come up with some.

We went there for lunch on our Honeymoon. The food was fantastic and it really was very relaxing. They even gave us a "Magical Moment" certificate and a free desert to celebrate with. What a nice time we had there! :goodvibes

I second the votes for BD, but with one small caveat. It can get crowded in there, and the dining room is cavernous, so the noise level can be rather disconcerting if you're expecting a nice, romantic dinner during those times. During our last visit to BD in April, it was quite loud, and our server had not only our table of three, but a couple of other small tables and a 25-person table near us. So, he was quite busy and the service suffered some. There were tables of 17, 13, and 9 close by, as well, and according to our server, big tables like that are common in BD. So, go but do so forewarned that you may encounter some noise more like what you would find in Whispering Canyon and less like Artist Point. :earsboy:

BD is a haven amongst the sometimes crowded, stressful, mania of MGM. The atmosphere...inviting. The food...delightful. The service...generally efficient and friendly.

We love it for lunch and dinner. I don't think I can recall a bad meal there.

Our favorites:
The famous Cobb Salad - it is unlike any Cobb you have ever had. Unlike some cobbs that "weigh" you down with heavy doses of cheese and bacon and creamy dressings, this one is light, refreshing, yet satisfying. It is chopped very very fine. It comes with turkey, but you can add chicken if you like.

The coconut shrimp - The only negative is I wish they had them as an entree!!! I recall they have changed the preparation a few times (i.e. it was once served with julienned beets). Now accoring to allears.net it is served with with frisee, bean thread noodles, mandarin orange salad and minted citrus soy dipping sauce. YUM!

The gratefruit cake - one of my favorite desserts ever...no kidding. A perfect balance of tart and sweet.

Hope you decide to go.
ENJOY!!!
