Brown Derby -- lovers or haters give me your review

We were there last week on the Fantasmic package, and the entire menu was available to us on the package (no limitations on what we could choose off the menu, although you have to order an appetizer, entree and dessert from those categories on the menu -- choosing three entrees is not permitted). If you order right, your Fantasmic package will actually be a bargain when you add up the menu cost on all three choices.

I have to say that I have only been there once, and was looking forward to the Cobb Salad. I thought it was terrible. I loved chopped salads, and have them often, but this could only be called a pulverized salad. I actually hated it. I'm willing to give the Brown Derby another try, but I won't be ordering the Cobb Salad again.

I concur. My cobb salad looked and tasted like it came out of a food processor. All mush and no texture. We usually stay away from the Brown Derby, we don't see the food being worth the price. The resort restaurants are much better.

I cannot for the life of me understand all these people who love this cobb salad. Clearly, this is one case of the original being improved upon from just about every incarnation of it afterwards. What is the joy in eating a salad that has been diced to the point of needing to eat it with a spoon? And as for the poster who said you'd be hard pressed to find a better theme park restaurant, that person has obviously never dined at the Vineyard Room at DCA.

I really enjoyed it. When I went, I had the salmon over polenta and thought it was yummy. My mom had the grouper and hers was great as well. I had the seafood/corn bisque and it was good - although not as good as the lobster bisque at Chefs de France or the Seafood Bisque at Kona.

The best part of the meal that I still lust after was the double vanilla bean creme brulee. YUM (oh and our waiter was quite YUM himself :rotfl: )

Now, I had eaten at Kona Cafe the night before - a 1 TS meal - and actually felt it was a better meal than Brown Derby for 2 TS. We also spent more "money" at Kona (but had the DDP). Had I not compared the two, I probably would love it even more. But I still think it's a great meal.

There were 4 of us and no one liked their meal. It is one of the few restaurants at Disney that we will not go to again. Also terrible service. Certainly not what it was all raved about to be. At least for us.

I have to say that I have been to the Brown Derby quite a few times and I am almost always impressed. I have been eating there since 1995. There was only one time that we didn't have a good meal. It was back in 2002, and as soon as we told our server that we were on the dinning plan, everything went down hill from there. Other than that one time, every other time has been great. I don't know about using the dinning plan for this since it's a 2 credit, but that's just me. Hopefully will be going there this year for lunch!!!!! :sunny:

Thanks for the replys. Seems like some love it and some don't. I am thinking maybe planning on another signature mealin stead of BD. We may just eat at Chefs or Le Cellier after our day at MGM.
