Hi! I fell and broke my right wrist last week( I am right handed) and we leave next Sunday for disney world! :sad2: I've been trying to figure out if there will be any ride restrictions having a cast? My Dr. says the only restriction is no lifting. Luckily my parents are going along to help my husband and myself with our 3 kids. I'm really bummed about the timing, but am determined to not let it get in the way of everyone having fun! Any advice would be great!

The CMs won't stop you from riding anything unless they would think it would be dangerous (and I have never heard of anyone being stopped from riding with an arm cast).
You might want to be aware of the rides that have warnings on them. That way you decide which ones you might think would be too rough.
Here's a list of the rides with warnings:
You can look at the park maps for the attractions with warnings - they are marked with a red triangle on the map and also on a sign at the entrance to the queue.
For Epcot here are the attractions with warnings:
  • Mission Space
  • Test Track
For Magic Kingdom:
  • Splash Mountain
  • Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
  • Tomorrowland Indy Speedway
  • Space Mountain
For Disney Studio
  • Star Tours
  • Rock N Roller Coaster
  • Tower of Terror
For Animal Kingdom:
  • Kilimanjaro Safari
  • Kali River Rapids
  • Expedition Everest
  • Primeval Whirl
  • Dinosaur

The only thing I'd be concerned about is anything that jars you around. From personal experience, I'd say that the vibrations or the jolts could bother your wrist.

thanks for the advice! Of course my favorite rides are the ones with the warnings! I guess I will just see how it goes. I had my boys excited to ride space mountain with me, but i do worry about how the jarring would feel. I think the rides my 3 year old will be interested in will probably be fine!:goodvibes

You should be safe with the 3 yr old!
These are the ones I would think would be especially jarring/problematic:
Mission Space - even the green version jars you from side to side

Test Track - you go over a bunch of very bumpy roads, like Belgian blocks

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad - not so jarring, but you may need to hang on with both hands since it has some extreme curves

Star Tours - very bumpy

Tower of Terror - you drop quickly and may end up bumping your wrist

Kali River Rapids - not really that jarring, but you will either get wet or totally soaked

Expedition Everest - I have not been on

Primeval Whirl - much rougher than it looks from the ground

Dinosaur - a lot of sudden changes in direction; forward, back and side to side. It is dark, so you can't anticipate

Probably. Although I remember going on Mr. Toad's Wild Ride and being in agony just from the little "train tracks" section. But then again I had to have surgery before they could cast, so that might have been part of the problem. But it was still something like three months later. Just be careful!

DS12 broke his wrist one week before our Disney Cruise/WDW vacation last summer.

He got a water proof cast and didn't miss a beat. Did every thing he wanted to; no problem. The cast was the key.

At Typhoon Lagoon he went on Crushin' Gusher at least 5 times and then a CM told him he couldn't because of his cast. Not sure why and since he had been on it multiple times, he didn't care.

Enjoy WDW!

thank you for the advice! We are not doing any water parks this time so that helps. I wasn't given the option of a waterproof cast, but that would have been nice! I think i'll just see how it goes! I'm most excited to see my 3y/o as this is her first trip to wdw. She loves the princesses and minnie mouse! My boys are old enough this time to do some of the bigger rides, so that will be fun too!

In addition, you might want to talk to the person who will be removing the cast. Have a line drawn on the cast where it will be cut for removal. Then bring along some "Sharpies" and have the characters autograph the cast, asking them to make sure their signature does not directly cross the line.

Once the cast is removed and fully dried out, you will then have a very unusual souvenir of the trip.

Sorry they didn't give you the cast option - of course in the winter it is not as obvious.

DS was "too old" for autographs. Until the Captain of the Wonder (Captain Henry) asked to sign it. By the end of the trip it was covered. All the characters, CMs and friends ended up signing it.

Have a great time, and enjoy the trip through the eyes of a 3yo!
