broken nose??? Anyone have experiance?

Glad you are going to the ENT tomorrow.

DS broke his nose this summer. Not anywhere as bad as yours..his was a depression fracture from being hit in the nose by a baseball.

This happened on a Thursday. Went to ER who referred us to the ENT. Saw him on Monday and almost as soon as he saw DS, he said "you know, we need to operate and we need to do it right away. We need to fix it within 1 week of the accident."

So since yours was Saturday, I'm glad you're going tomorrow. If it needs to be repaired surgically, they will want to act as soon as possible.

Hope all turns out well.

What a painful appointment. Went to the ENT this morning and he sent me to the hospital to get a CAT scan done. Went back to the ENT's office to find out that I have to have my nose 'reset'...I've not done any research on exactly what that means yet.

Our ENT here in town does not reset or fix any bone problems, so now tomorrow my hubby is driving me to a larger town an hour away to get it done.

I'm nervous. I'm thinking that it will be painful. The ENT here told me that there are a few different ways a Dr. will do it depending on the Dr. and how the break is. For something like this, I'd almost rather be put out! anyone else have this done???

Ouch!!! That about made my eyes water just reading it! I did break my nose many, many years ago but fortunately didn't have to have it reset. I was at swim practice and had forgotten my goggles but didn't want to miss practice. So, silly me, I thought the best solution would be to just swim with my eyes closed. That worked well until the end of the first lap. In the battle of nose vs. pool wall, pool wall ALWAYS wins. It looked like a geyser of blood was shooting out of my face. Horrifying.

Good luck at your doctor's appointment tomorrow! Hope it's not too painful or that they at least give you SUPER-good drugs for it. :)

Well, reset is getting the bones put back in the right spot. I would call the new ENT to see if they plan on putting you under to do that because you can't eat before that appointment. If they were not planning on putting you under ask how they plan to accomplish that so you can be prepared.

You poor thing!  I hope you feel better soon and that all goes well with the procedure. :goodvibes :goodvibes

Well, I'm home and it's been reset. I'm happy it's over with. The Dr. said it could take up to three weeks for all the pain to go away. It hurts a lot right now, but should get a little better as the days go by. I never thought about what actually has to happen when a person breaks their nose. Now, I wouldn't even wish it on an enemy! back to sleep for me. We're going ahead with the birthday party on Sat. my husband and mom will be doing most of the work (thank goodness for them!!!!).
