I'm really sorry to hear about your arm. I'm also glad that you are not planning to sue. In my line of work I hear "I'm going to call my lawyer" about 10 time a week. My response "rock on!"....ok, I put it more politely than that. (I work as an administrator at a large hospital) I'm also surprised you haven't gotten an "are you ok" call....my guess is that it's an oversite rather than deliberate. Your paperwork probably was misfiled in some way. Most places will want to check on you if you've fallen on their property.
Also (please don't flame me, I'm really a nice person), I wanted to defend the hospital just a touch. ER's in the US are in crisis. Most not as much as in the northeast are, but are in crisis. ERs lose money hand over fist, so hospitals can't really afford to expand them too much, but at the same time there is an increase in the uninsured corresponding with the aging of the baby boomers. These two things have created a huge surge of patients going to ERs and they are just not equiped to handle it. Add to that chronic staffing issues and a surge in patients (weren't you there with the cheerleaders and the pop warner kids? I imagine quite a few of them broke themselves) and you have a fantastically long wait. I really hate to say this, but americans are going to kind of have to prepare themselves to wait for really long periods of time in ERs in the coming years. I'm really sorry that it happened to you, especially when you were in pain, but I just felt like I had to give their side a little bit.....don't hate me, I get enough of that at work.
