Broke my arm in MK

Update,

Had yet another follow-up yesterday with my Orthopedist. I will not need surgery, just 4 more weeks in the cast and sling. I am so relieved. Thanks for all your warm wishes.

Wow, sorry your broke your arm in the MK! I'm also surprised you haven't heard from WDW.

I'm sorry you fell and I hope the bone heals up well.

Sorry to get OT, and hugs to the OP for her pain and troubles!

In our local paper just this past weekend, there were articles about two separate lawsuits filed recently in our neck of the woods: in the first, a woman in an abusive relationship called 911, as her boyfriend was in her house and had just killed her son. When police arrived, he was speeding away and officers shot at the car and disabled it. Unfortunately, the woman was in the car, being kidnapped by the lunatic, and was hit by a bullet. She is suing the police. In the second, a woman at a Taco Bell drive-thru at 3 am was heckling the car ahead of her for taking too long. One of the occupants of the car came to her car and stuck his head in, swearing at her. She punched him in the nose. He shot her. She is suing Taco Bell. :confused3

Taco Bell??!! lol. Why in the world is she suing Taco Bell?? :sad2:

So glad to hear you will not be needing surgery! Don't feel bad. I've fallen a couple of times on WDW property. I can't blame anyone but these big old feet of mine!

OP: glad to hear you don't need surgery! I have broken both elbows, one I needed surgery for and it took 8 months to heal (still isn't the same, 5 years later) and the other - the one I broke at Universal - took just a few weeks to heal and is good as new. Good luck with the healing and don't let it stop you from enjoying WDW! (Just watch out for those rocks!!)

For failing to provide adequate security at the drive-thru.

Wow - I can't imagine fast food restaurants hiring drive-thru security? The most I would expect a drive-thru teller to do is call 911. What else could they do? I don't suggest you arm the drive-thru tellers! lol. :rotfl:

I'm really sorry to hear about your arm. I'm also glad that you are not planning to sue. In my line of work I hear "I'm going to call my lawyer" about 10 time a week. My response "rock on!"....ok, I put it more politely than that. (I work as an administrator at a large hospital) I'm also surprised you haven't gotten an "are you ok" call....my guess is that it's an oversite rather than deliberate. Your paperwork probably was misfiled in some way. Most places will want to check on you if you've fallen on their property.

Also (please don't flame me, I'm really a nice person), I wanted to defend the hospital just a touch. ER's in the US are in crisis. Most not as much as in the northeast are, but are in crisis. ERs lose money hand over fist, so hospitals can't really afford to expand them too much, but at the same time there is an increase in the uninsured corresponding with the aging of the baby boomers. These two things have created a huge surge of patients going to ERs and they are just not equiped to handle it. Add to that chronic staffing issues and a surge in patients (weren't you there with the cheerleaders and the pop warner kids? I imagine quite a few of them broke themselves) and you have a fantastically long wait. I really hate to say this, but americans are going to kind of have to prepare themselves to wait for really long periods of time in ERs in the coming years. I'm really sorry that it happened to you, especially when you were in pain, but I just felt like I had to give their side a little bit.....don't hate me, I get enough of that at work. :lovestruc

Glad you can still say you had a good trip after the break, and your no sue attutude :thumbsup2 , a DISNEY person for sure. :thumbsup2

Very sorry! Hope it heals quickly!

I had to take my DD8 to Celebration ER last spring break shortly after midnight. WL front desk advised me not to, told me it would be a very long ordeal and to either go to the immediate care first thing in the morning or make an appointment with the doctor who comes to your room.

After about thirty more minutes hearing her cry in pain I took her on to the ER and left DH back in the room with our youngest. WE WERE BACK IN OUR ROOM WITHIN AN HOUR! Yep, that is right! My youngest DD slept thru the whole thing and never even knew we left the room. So our Celebration Er experience was pretty fantastic. (She had a double ear infection and had been swimming all day.)

The thing I'm most surprised about is the number of people who have since asked me if I was going to sue Disney. I answer, of course not. It's not their fault I wasn't paying attention. They did everything properly.

July 2005 DD then 17 and I were at the San Diego Zoo's Wild Animal Park (not the zoo itself). DD ended up falling and scraping her entire shin/lower leg on the pavement pretty badly. They took us to First Aid and cleaned and dressed the wound. DD had a couple of weeks of pain and has some minor scars but she said she never would have sued because it only would have hurt the animals. Makes me proud that my teenager thinks of something/someone besides herself.

Glad to hear you are out of the woods as far as surgery is concerned. Feel well! (and I'll be on the lookout for that curb during our next visit)

No I'm not going to flame you. DM works in public health and was a nurse in the ER up until last year when she was stuck by an HIV patient. (very long story) I have gotten numerous lectures from DM on just this very thing. When people don't have insurance and no a HSA doesn't count, they do wait until it is absolutely imperative to go to Dr. No insurance where are you going to go the ER! If it's a public hospital then they'll see you. Private will send you out the door....

I agree it is only to get worse.

Those darn curbs! I fell off one on Thursday and broke my foot! Of course, DH's first comment was "you'll be ending your physical therapy about the time we go to WDW" And we got a concerned phone call almost immediately from the family that we're traveling with. But, I should be fine. 4-6 wks in a cast. Now, chasing after my 1 year old....THAT'S going to be the challenge.....

And I would never dream of suing Disney if something like that had happened on property! Thanks to the OP for being wise about it.....
