Broadway Club

Broadway seems to be relying on the Movie industry way too much lately. I mean we all know Disney has made Broadway lots of cash and also Disney has made a ton from the musicals and then there is Legally Blonde, but I just hope it doesn't go overboard like Disney Films with the sequels.

We should have a little memorial for RENT, and Legally Blonde. Oh, and Hairspray

...add Xanadu to that list. I loved it, and really would've liked to see it again.

Yeah and [title of show], and Spamalot, which is closing on January 18th! So sad. Ugh, I also don't understand why they're taking these beauties off and replacing them with Shrek and Spiderman and all that. If anyone wants to hear a few descriptions of LB's last performance last night, go to the link below. It's really sweet. I'm bummed that there weren't any speeches though:

AH all my favorite shows are closing/have closed. Except Wicked and Lion King, I suppose.

On a slightly different note- have you all read about Andrew Lloyd Webber's sequel to Phantom?

Added:Also I saw Young Frankenstein in July- it was fantastic- and still had original cast! (i.e. Megan Mullally)
It sounds like it would be hokey- and it was, but I love the movie, so it didn't matter. The songs were catchy, too.

:rotfl:
Yeah he talked about it not too long ago. I don't remember what it's about but if I find it.

Side note: I was a little bummed when I saw Phantom on broadway. The voices really bothered me they were almost too opera, vibrato (I think). Not smooth and silky. :lmao:

Oh...I really liked it! The movie is okay...if Gerard Butler could sing, that is!

Oh yes. But the movie had fantastic imagery. I get chills during the scene after the auction house- where the overture is playing full blast and the Opera house turns back in time.

Oooh, me too :goodvibes

It's ONLY the most romantic musical of all time!!!!!!!

Agreed!
*sigh*

Haunting and creepy musical too xD *of course not the most creepy musical.. mwhaha Sweeney

I liked the imagery in RENT too, but nothing beats seeing it at the Nederlander *can't spell. Small theater, intimate. MOOO! Ahhh. So sad it's gone :guilty: :sad2:
