I actually liked Sweeney as a movie better. The stage show seemed to move a little to slow for me.

Which is weird because 9 times out of 10 I will like the origional stage version better than the movie.

I'm going to New York over spring break! We're only staying for 3 days though, and only seeing 2 shows- Sunday in the Park With George and one other..
I'm so excited!

I saw the revival with Patti LuPone too. It was pretty good, but even though I don't say this very often about movie musicals...I liked the movie better. I think I would have liked the original Broadway version better, but the revival was iffy to me. I don't know what it was. Maybe the fact that the cast played their own instruments onstage? That could be it, except that they did that in Company too, and I loved Company.

Edit: Oh yeah, here's a reason for liking the movie better...um, Johnny Depp, possibly?

i havent actually seen west side story on broadway but i have seen the movie sooo many times! i just saw wicked! for school and it was hte best thing ever!!

I know!!!! I'm gonna try harder to get tickets this time I have to wait until all of the people who had tickets on June 1st get their tickets for September 7th though. But then I'll give it a shot. I almost want to go now more than I did when I heard it was closing on June 1st! Just because the suspense is killing me to see what they'll do for the last performance, and extending now IMHO makes it all the more special on September 7th.

i JUST saw hairspray on tuesday, the little mermaid on wednesday, & mary poppins on thursday on broadway!



hairspray was the second time i had seen it, but it was still AMAZING.

mary poppins had the most amazing set ever, but the musical itself was just a little bit boring. but i still loved it. & she FLEW OVER THE AUDIENCE at the end!


& out of all the shows i've seen in my life, the little mermaid was the BEST. everyone in the show was amazing, the set was phenomenal, & i was just so mesmerised by everything. it was awesome!!

Wasn't The Little Mermaid incredible? The talent is out of this world. I loved it, and I'm glad you did too! I'm seeing Mary Poppins for the first time tomorrow (for once a show that all of my friends have seen before me ) I can see why it would be a little boring like you said, that's why I put it off for this long! But I'm sure it'll still be pretty great.
