Brittany Murphy died

So sad...someone else said it here but she had a very distinctive, voice.

I was browsing at the supermarket. They had a chart about celebrity weight gains and losses and hers, if I am recalling correctly, was very low as of late, and she had lost a good 15-20 pounds recently and she was skin and bones.

This was my first thought when I saw a recent photo. The weight loss was dramatic. I wondered if she was taking diet pills. I don't remember hearing about an eating disorder.

Of course, this is just my observation.

LOS ANGELES - A Los Angeles County coroner's official says it appears actress Brittany Murphy died of natural causes.

Cedars-Sinai Medical Center spokeswoman Sally Stewart says Murphy was pronounced dead at 10:04 a.m. today. Murphy was transported to the hospital after the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a call at 8 a.m. at the home Murphy shared with her husband, British screenwriter Simon Monjack, in the Hollywood Hills.

Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter says the cause of Murphy's death "appears to be natural."

Wow - Natural Causes @ 32 years old??? :sad2:

Does anyone think this might be another Karen Carpenter situation?

I'm looking at a photo gallery of Ms. Murphy on Wonderwall, and one thing that stands out to me is how "off" her coloring looks in recent photos.

Whether her life was taken by a health problem beyond her control or an eating disorder or drug abuse, you can see see something was going on because she doesn't have a healthy-looking complexion in recent photos.

That was my first thought too. But I have heard stories of her snorting coke. Could be a bit of both.

That was my very first thought. I don't like the speculation, but I also think it's natural to have a gut reaction.

An autopsy would show drug use... if it was a heart attack due to something like anorexia, would that show up? Or would it just be ruled a heart attack?

So sad, regardless of the cause :(

They were able to link Karen Carpenter's anorexia to her heart failure, so it might show up.

My first thought was drugs or something having to due with weigh nonetheless, still very sad.

She was younger than me!! What makes me wonder is her hubby not wanting an autopsy.

Could be drugs, could be an eating disorder, could just have been an undiagnosed heart problem. There are quite a lot of young healthy people who die of heart ailments every year that go undetected.

Antonio Puerta was a 22 year old professional athlete who just collapsed and died in 2007. It is unfortunate but happens and we usually only hear about it when it is someone famous.

I'll wait to see what the autopsy says before jumping to any conclusions.

My oldest sister's best friend dropped dead at the age of 34. She appeared to be healthy, had been tired for a few days, but had plans with my sister for the next day. She came in from work, got her 4 yr old in the bed, and told her husband that she was going to call my sister to take her to the ER because she just didn't feel right-she wanted him to stay with their daughter. Then she fell over, and was dead before the ambulance arrived. She apparently had an undiagnosed heart problem. So yes it happens, but it is rare.

Really? How old are you? <30?

Yes, 30 :flower3:
Even The Carpenters doesn't ring a bell - but I looked it up.

I hate to jump to conclusions this early, but it makes sense that this could be associated with some type of eating disorder.

Same here. My 35-year-old cousin died in his sleep a year ago due to electrical heart failure. It happens a lot more often than you'd imagine.

I have heard rumors that she had diabetes. Apparently her mom said she did, but it has not been confirmed.

It could possibly be the reason. There is an eating disorder among people with Type 1 diabetes known as diabulimia. Diabulimia is when people with Type 1 purposefully do not take their insulin, or do not take the right amount, in order to lose weight. It is extremely dangers as blood sugar that is too high (and if you are losing weight due to high blood sugar it is too high) leads to a condition known as diabeticketoacidosis (DKA) in which the body starts attacking itself for fuel because it is not getting any fuel from the glucose in the blood. The blood literally becomes acidic and if left untreated it can be fatal. Plus, high blood sugar damages a lot of internal organs and women in particular are at a much higher risk of heart disease. I'm not saying this is the case (I'm not even for sure that she did have diabetes), but it is a possibility of those reports are accurate.
