Hi all! I posted a while ago on the US community board with questions about travel in Scotland and England. All the replies were very helpful, so I thought it would be best to ask the UK board about rail passes. My daughter and her friend, both 20, will be traveling soon, first around Scotland then England. It is a three week trip. They will be spending various time in different locations, such as 1 day here, two or three days there. I think the plan is to stay a week in London, but they might want to go to Paris for two days.
I am thinking about surprising each of them with a rail pass. Can anyone give me some information on the passes, what the best type to get would be? Should they get a seperate one for London for the Tubes (subways in the US lol!)? What would these cost? Also, my daughter said that they probably won't go to Paris due to the high cost of the ticket. She thinks it would be around $600.00 US for a round trip. Is that true?
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
