My husband and I will be traveling from America to the UK and need some help with clothing during September month. Mainly understand the temperatures in Dublin Ireland, Belfast, Scotland and Liverpool. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

We are leaving this September for the TA cruise with stops in Stonehenge & Ireland.
Spending 4 days in London prior to cruise.
We bought rain jackets and are going to bring jeans and hoodies a couple long sleeve shirts too.
I bring a sweater or 2 for the ship, dining rooms cool.
Looking at weather Ireland seems to run in the 60's in Sept. and low 70's in London.
We are from Florida our blood is thin, LOL

Im from Dublin and I have lived in London.

Currently it is 9pm and the temperature is about 62 F. That is very warm for this time of night and is typical July weather.

In September it would be between 60 F and 70 F most days. It can rain at any time and we have high humidity levels.

For port excursions you will be doing alot of walking. Sidewalks will be narrow and crowded and may be cobblestones or uneven surfaces. Many of the places are hilly, even in cities and towns.

I would suggest layers will be your friend for both you and your husband.

For both of you I would suggest comfortable walking shoes, similar to what you wear to a Disney park.

Sweaters, long sleeved tshirts, short sleeved tshirts, hoodies, tank tops, cardigans. All of these can be layered.

Jeans or cargo pants or slacks.

If you wear dresses, wear leggings underneath and have a cardigan ontop.

For both of you, a light waterproof jacket or umbrella.

Reinforcing what @BadPinkTink said... I'm over there that time of year a lot...
Layers, layers, layers. Waterproof shoes. Good rain jacket. Avoid cotton in your layering (its not fun to wear once it gets wet). Based on the time of year, keep an eye open for end of year sales at golf shops (like Dicks). They'll have a lot of good stuff in bland colors for you to layer.

And now it has started raining! This is from my phone's weather app

We were in Ireland last August and experienced minimal rain but we wore layers and also travex or similar water proof hiking pants that dry quickly. I could roll mine up to make capris when it got warmer during the day. Definitely a hooded water proof jacket and shirts layered.
We will be on the Magic September 8th stopping in Dublin and Belfast So looking forward to the return to Ireland.

Me and my wife did the British Isles cruise in September. You are going to have such a great time. It was cool and we had some rain. Layers and a good light rain jacket. Have fun!

Casey Thank you! Which port excursions did you do if you could share the experience?

I'm relaxing here with a cognac but I will try to remember. We went to Blarney Castle to kiss the Blarney Stone and stopped at a place to have an Irish coffee. When we got back to Cobh, which is pronounced Cove, we had time to walk through the town and shop. That town gave us the best sendoff! The next day we did a tour of the Irish countryside with lunch.

At Scotland we went to Glasgow for a tour. I want to do Edinburgh some day but we were happy we chose Glasgow. It reminds me of my hometown of Pittsburgh with all the College students and Museums and Churches. In Liverpool we did the Beatles tour. It was great. Besides the tour you drive through the city and see so much. You can walk to the Beatles museum from the port but the tour was so much more.

I'm just touching on a few things. The cruise was great. I fell in love with the Magic. We loved the piano bar and became friends with the couples we had dinner with. Disney is first class with the little things they do. At Liverpool they brought aboard a Beatles cover band who were great. We saw two of their shows. One was the early rock music and at night they did a psychedelic set. We stayed at the Sofitel hotel in London. Fantastic!

Casey Thanks for the updates and suggestions. Did you stay any days in London before or after?
In Liverpool did you do the bus or cab Beatles tour?
So looking forward to this port. Hope they bring back the evening cover band! :rockband:
Other DCL vacations you've done and could recommend? You are right It's the little things about Disney which means so much. :)

Hi hmsTigger. We spent a night at the London airport Sofitel Hotel. We had really nice dinner with a great bottle of wine there and the room was top notch. We did the bus Beatles tour that made a lot of stops where we got off. We did 5 Disney cruises on the Dream and Fantasy before this. Our next one is on the Wonder. Southern Caribbean from San Juan in January. We love Puerto Rico and are staying 2 nights before this cruise.

We were on the British Isles Cruise last year and they did not have a pirates night. It was replaced by a Frozen night.

Thank you! Did people dress up in Disney Frozen attire? How to find out what is happening in advance?

Some people dressed up. And everyone was given a plastic pendent in the shape of a snowflake that lit up.

I just checked my journal from last year and the Frozen night was when we were in Dublin. However, the itinerary is different this year, so that could change. They celebrated Frozen all day on the ship but we were in Dublin all day so only saw the deck show that evening.

Thank you so much for checking your journal. Wish they would announce the theme nights in advance.
But, in a way the surprises are fun. Maybe they have noted this somewhere and I am just too new on DCL.
