A British friend e-mailed this commercial to me. It's running in the UK right now. It's BRILLANT! And since I'm a Honda owner, I have to say I agree with them.
It takes a few minutes to access the website and load. Hang in there.
I'm a Honda driver too, but now that they've changed the body style of the Accord & I hate it, I'm probably going to get a Nissan or one of the new Mustangs.
How very creative. I marvel at how some minds can be that original. And so 'very Honda-like'. Great cars, had the original Accord hatchback in '76 and the original 4-door Accord in '82, both wonderful cars. Thanks for the link.
I thought you guys would like it. Reminds me of a superbowl commercial. What ya wanna bet we never see it over here? Sometimes I think the powers that be underestimate American's attention span.
I downloaded the commercial (11Mb) when I heard about it on slashdot.org (News for Nerds). According to the article there, this commercial is NOT computer generated animation (with the exception of a single scene). They actually setup the entire "Rube Goldberg" apparatus. It apparently took 606 takes to get everything to work. The commercial was shot in two pieces. The only piece of CG animation is in the middle and was used to join the two sections of the commercial.
I also seem to remember that it cost $7.5 million to produce this commercial. It is one of the neatest commercials that I have ever seen. I believe that the commercial was available at Honda dealerships in Great Britain on DVD. I would bet that they ran out of those free DVDs very quickly.
