Is there anything you've heard us Brit's talk about that you would like to try?
How about a full English breakfast?

Crumpets dripping with English butter?

Or maybe Fish, Chips & Mushy peas

As a Brit ~ The only one I like is the crumpets and butter. Like the full english but without the beans and fried egg.

Have heard about and seen in tv Black Sausage.. but have no intention of ever trying it tho:teeth:

Other than that, I think you guys and us, eat pretty much the same kind of food;)

The third one is for breakfast?? Fish and french fries?

When my DH went overseas on business, I was surprised to hear that some countries eat salami all 3 meals in a day. :confused3

What is a fry up? Fish or an egg? :confused3
I am thinking that chip buttie is fries? No?

What is something over in England food/meal wise that we in the USA would consider "different"??

I've always wanted to visit the UK, maybe one of these days, will do it!

Dh is English and he loves a chip buttie. A chip buttie is chips on bread with butter. It just makes me shudder but he loves it. :teeth: I always make extra french fries with dinner so he can have one.

I like bangers and mash myself. DH will also make bubble and squeak for breakfast which I like a lot.

A fry up is just another name for a full english breakfast like the one in the picture above. A chip buttie is chips in a sadwhich, although our chips are a lot different to your french fries as they're really big and chunky. You can get a chip buttie from a fish and chip shop (a "chippie") or obviously make your own but they're nicest from a fish and chip shop.

As for what you would consider different...all (or most) of the foods in the OP, yorkshire puddings (you have these with Sunday Lunch-yum!) and you would definitely find chocolate to be different, its much sweeter here. I know theres more but I can't think of them off the top of my head right now.

ETA: Oops was typing up my reply when NMAmy posted hers. Can't believe I forgot bangers and mash! popcorn::

Bangers and mash? Sausage and mashed potato?

We have many assorted varieties of chocolate, some is sweet like milk chocolate, others prefer dark which I can only take on a mint and in small doses!
Unfortunately(maybe fortunatly LOl) we don't have many chocolate shops in Florida with the heat it would all melt by the time you get it home!

I have had a full English breakfast but my goodness I couldnt finish the thing.
I prefer a bacon buttie with cheese and tomato(pronounced correctly). When I was there in May I had fish chips and mushy peas at the local pub. So far my favorite think was a steak and ale pie that just simply melted in my mouth. My fiancee would like for me to try steak and kidney pie but I have to work my way up to it. I tried some of the black sausage and didnt care for it.

DH makes bubble and squeak for breakfast. It's warmed up leftovers, basically. :teeth: Mashed potatos with leftover vegetables--at our house, it's usually peas but sometimes cabbage. All fried up. Sounds kind of icky now that I think about it but it tastes delish.

I did get a good giggle when we were visiting DH's family in England. His older brother is kind of sheltered and has only left the country once to visit us in New Mexico. I guess all that New Mexican food we gave him made him think we eat very exotically in the States. We sat down to dinner of ham, pasta salad, baked beans--normal picnicky type foods--and he asked me in all seriousness, "I bet these foods are really different to you. Have you tried these foods before?" :lmao: Ummm...yeah, I've had ham before.

I had a full English breakfast while visiting my daughter who lives in London. It was at a restaurant near Smithfield Market near Charterhouse Street, but of course, I cannot remember the name of the restaurant. I do, however, remember the breakfast.....so fun, and I love mushy peas too.

I was in the UK about 15 years ago and I enjoyed some shepherds pie in one of the pubs. I liked the full English breakfast, but I wasn't too fond of the beans. I love tomatoes and enjoyed having them on the breakfast plate. I also had fish & chips. I usually don't eat seafood, though that fish was pretty good!

We're eating lunch at The Rose & Crown in Sept. and I look forward to trying the Ploughmans Salad. Is there a particular beer (lager) you'd recommend to go with it?

I'll have an English breakfast without the meat and with mushrooms, please! Yum yum yum!

I have always wanted to try Bubble and Squeak. And, I'm also a big fan of fish and chips, and crumpets. But, my favorite British food is the Afternoon Tea. I can't wait to take my DD to London so she can experience a proper tea at the Savoy.

Oh my ................ our cousins on the other side of the pond can buy "chippies" in a store"

I have made a version of Bubble and Squeak here. I usually take my veggies left over from a New England Boiled Dinner and fry them up in a frying pan with a couple of pats of butter....the noise it makes while its cooking I think is where it gets the name from.

YUMM..... I get a craving every so often for a full ( british, Irish) breakfast, so I go to our local Irish pub (run by a fiesty red-haired Irish woman) and gosh I love black pudding and white pudding and stewed tomatoes for breakfast. They also serve Irish rashers. :cloud9: But I could do without the beans for breakfast

For other meals I love Bangers and Mash :)
