Brita water bottles

Yup, I checked with Brita and they don't make them anymore - totally bummed me out! So I've been doing some research and found a few different options.

www.waterfilters.net They offer Culligan bottles in two sizes and extra filters. They even have one that just screws on to any bottle. Good price too.

www.nvirohealth.com I really liked the look of this bottle - c'mon, you have color choices! It's more pricey than Brita or Culligan bottles, but the filter lasts for 800 refills - or 150 gallons! Where the Culligan bottle is only good for about 20 gallons.

Those are the best two I've seen. My DH found one that filters out EVERYTHING, they even claim it filters some kind of radiation or radiated particles... the filter is good for 200 gallons but is not replaceable. They figure it's cheaper to replace the whole bottle at that point (I say it increases waste).

The Brita's are getting hard to find. All the Walmarts and CVS's around me don't carry the bottles or filters anymore. Look on Ebay as well. I picked up a dozen filters a while back for $10 plus shipping there.

I just found the screw cap type filters from Culligan in my local grocery store last night for $1.89 each! We can't wait for our next trip to try them out. Has anyone here used them before? If so, do they really filter out that awful chlorine tasted you get from the hotel water?

Answering the question about free water. Yes, they will give you free water at any location.

In fact, every amusement park I've ever been to will do this.

And I swear by Brita water bottles. I have one at my desk and drink 3-4 bottles of it a day!

The Brita filters really filter out that nasty taste. I had one skeptical friend who finally tried it and declared it as good as the bottled water she'd been paying for all day...... I'd bet that the Culligan filters are similar to the Brita filters.

I know the Brita filters required that you run some water through them before actually drinking, though, just like for the other models, to get the smaller filtering particles out. Do the Culligans require that? It's easy enough to do, but just wondering.....
