Bristol Palin and DWTS results

Bristol should have been voted off many eliminations ago if u are just voting on her dancing ability. I also believe this is political or it does play a large part. That being said, I think she's very likeable and that may also play a part. She does have a beauty and innocence about her when she dances like some of the judges have said. We also have seen this happen before on DWTS, that excellent dancers get voted off. I did feel very bad for Brandi.

Bristol's doing so well on this show that I think her sister Willow ought to be on it next season.

For such a young girl, that Willow already has so many accomplishments under her belt--burglar, vandal, Facebook fighter, etc. Adding "dancer" to the list would really round out her resume, don't you all think? :)

:lmao:

sounds like the Palin's first priority should be getting their own house in order!!!! Just sayin'.

I just read the account of Bristol and Palin's facebook argument.

All I can say is - Wow what lovely girls.

I used to think that Bristol fell into a hard situation but was maturing. After reading her comments she sounds just like an immature teenager.

And BTW not all teens talk in such derogatory terms. I've raised four older children and they would be the first to tell you that they don't use those terms or that language.

For someone who portrays herself as the apple pie, heartland Mom those comments certainly should cause her to step back and see what is going on with those girls. I understand that Bristol is "considered" to be an adult but it sure seems like Willow isn't heading down the right path.

We were speculating yesterday about the ratings and the influence that producers have on the show. I was just reading an article about Bristol and the "conspiracy theories" and found a few of the quotes to be very interesting.

The full article can be found here: Bristol Palin's 'DWTS' run fuels conspiracy theories

Some choice parts include:

"She's whipped up passions of people and the cloud of brouhaha just like Sarah Palin," says DWTS executive producer Conrad Green.

Green notes that DWTS, which has one of TV's oldest viewing demographics, may feel maternal toward young contestants such as Palin, who had no background as an entertainer or dancer, unlike most of the celebrities who've appeared over 11 seasons. "People love the story of the ordinary person. Bristol embodies that."

I guess it just fuels further speculation that ABC is moving her along for the drama and the "underdog" story.

But creating an artificial storyline in Reality TV isn't completely unheard of, so why should DWTS be any different?

no kidding wow!

I take back what I said about thinking she was cute and a nice person......she is anything but.

she hasn't matured a bit and I feel sorry for that poor boy she is raising - a baby raising a baby, so sad. We'll be hearing similar things about him in the future no doubt.:sad2:

As far as Bristol being considered to be an adult, I think she's 20, but even 20-year-olds don't necessarily use their common sense at times. Most adults don't fully mature mentally/emotionally until their late 20s, and some even older than that.

Bristol has publicly apologized, on FB, I believe. So are we to hold this against her, and her mother, for the rest of their life?

Nah, but discussing it the same week it happened doesn't seem outrageous. Considering that people have been claiming that she is getting votes because she seems like such a nice, down-to-earth person, I think her comments raise some valid questions. When there is so little else to look at among her accomplishments in her albeit young life, her words are some of our only insights into the person she is, as opposed to the person she is portrayed to be.

The "gains" Bristol gets aren't necessarily political.

DWTS Contestants have paid salaries. Everytime they advance, they get a bonus. Bristol is racking up quite the paycheck.

http://www.dwts.org/page/DWTS+salaries:+How+much+do+the+stars+make? (FWIW, I'd say Howard Stern's comment is reliable).

Bristol had been shopping around for a reality show at the beginning of the year. This will certainly make it easier for her to become a television "personality" and maybe get another contract for another show down the road.

I think there are alot of factors involved beyond Bristol's dancing skills (or lack thereof). And most of them have to do with money, both for her and ABC Television. I don't think that Bristol emerging as a television celebrity will further her mother's political aspirations.

I don't believe that adults don't mature til their late 20's. That is just an excuse for bad behavior. If that were true then in the 1700's when people had their familys in their teens and died in their 20's .. they were never mature??!!!

Nah ... just until the end of the show :lmao:.

Honestly, I can't get my undies in a bundle over it. Teens and newly minted 20-years olds talk that way and there is a lot of posturing and bravado on FB. BUT, I keep on thinking how I would feel if it were Kyle that was involved in the same thing. I would be severely disappointed in him because I think I hold him to a higher standard. He seems so much more mature than Bristol.

And something else--I don't get why Mrs. Palin didn't instruct her children to not respond to people criticizing them on-line when she signed them up for the TLC show.

I would have expected her to tell them something along the lines of, "doing this show puts us all out there and not everyone loves us. You'll encounter lots of haters, so be careful not to be baited into arguments." I mean, really, this is something that these kids should have been prepared for, and there wouldn't be any need for an apology if they had acted correctly in the first place.

This!!

I would have expected this to be instructions she gave all of them a looong time ago!! Like back in 2008!! "Kids, there will be a lot of times that people will try to engage you in some pretty hateful discussions, you'll need to learn to keep your cool and just not respond..."

I would think that for children of ANY political figures this would have to be a pretty standard skill...

I remember reading that once and then I think a couple of judges where complaining about it. Saying that the producers have final say in who advances and that it really didn't matter what the judges said or what the call in votes were.

It is all done for nothing more then ratings and money. That is why my DH and I don't get vested in the performers / contestants. Their being there is at the producers discretion and their getting kicked off often has nothing to do with their talent. They just weren't creating enough drama to justify keeping them around.

I just can't imagine having that boring and pathetic of a life that I had nothing better to do then to make up emails and vote for some stranger hundreds of times. Why? They are getting nothing out of it. They don't know the person and they aren't getting paid anything to do it.

I know, it's so much more productive to come here and argue about it :upsidedow

That would work in a perfect world. Let's face it, the adults here can't even follow that rule.

Any public figure for that matter. Can you imagine all the hell that would break loose if this one one of the older Gosselin kids?

No, that's not whay I'm saying. Times were very different back then, and I think you know that.
