Jews learn abotu Christianity by virtue of the fact that it's the majority religion. I know a heck of a lot more about it than many Christian know about Judaism. I can only go on what others post with regard to what their churches do; my apologies for not intuiting further.
As another poster said, Christianity comes from Judaism, so it makes sense to know something about it. There isn't a real reason for Jews to study Christianity. Heck, the coverage of world religions in my high school social studies classes was so superficial as to be worthless and, in some instances, wrong or misleading.
Whether a shofar sound pleasant is often up to the person playing - much like a trumpet and sound pleasant or horrible depending on the person wielding it.
