1) Do you bring your pets with you to Fort Wilderness ?? If yes- what kind of pets are they ??

2) Is this answer different at FW than other places you vacation ??

To tell you the truth that's kind of why we got into camping, we have alway had a dog, all of our dogs have alway traveled with us we just love having our doggies with us.

We now have a Cockapoo that is 9 months old, he loves to travel and travels really well, he's a joy and we love him.

Our last doggie died three days before us going to FW, it really put a damper on our trip we had him for 10 years and it about killed us.

We are just animal lover, we sometimes just ride off just to take the dog out...hehe. Trying to find a nice, clean hotel that allows pets is just about impossible, unless you spend a fortune. Camping is really the only way to enjoy your whole family going.

1)We bring our dogs, but not our cat. She stays home and has visits from family members a few times a week.

2) One of the reasons we bought a motorhome was so that we could travel with our dog(s). They always come camping with us. We don't have any plans to do "other" kinds of vacations anytime soon where they wouldn't be able to come.

2 Dogs and 2 cats, the cats LOVE the rv!

The only vacations we go on are in the RV and the 4 pets are always with us. I think I would like camping without dogs but I won't kennel them so they are with us. I think of them first before booking any campground to be sure they are pet friendly.

Our first dog even tagged along on the honeymoon, he loved the Fort and walking the pet loops. He was a good camping dog, my new pup , eh, not so much :sad2:

We usually bring our sweet little Westie with us. We dropped her off at MILs on our way to the Ft last time because she doesn't like to be alone, she is quite vocal about that actually, and MIL is crazy about her. Since we would be away from the camper a lot we didn't bring her along this time. She is 8 years old and the perfect doggie!

Here's Teagan:

We have two Cairn Terriers (like Todo).

We would not go if we could not take Ellie and Dori.

They love walking around the pet loop .. always make a new friend or two

We have three mini dachshunds, and we also started camping because of them. Anywhere they're at feels like home to me! :cloud9:

Barclay has come with us - and will be with us in July! Here's his latest picture!

1) We take our 2 dogs with us, they are beagles.

2) They pretty much go everywhere with us, they travel very well. Typically if the dogs can't go then I guess we can't either. One of the advantages of having a motorhome is being able to take them with us.

We have a 1 year old labradoodle named Solomon who travels really well!

We did not bring him to WDW last trip, as we figured we'd be in the parks so much that he'd be cooped up alot. There is a kennel here at home that he loves - he doesn't get locked up there, but gets to run & play with the other pups all day long.

We usually bring him camping whenever the campgrounds allow. We have one annual Memorial Day trip - planned by friends - where no dogs are allowed (what's up with that? that's half the reason we camp!!). :sad2: About 30 of us go, and the organizer has no pets, so they don't really care about finding another location. It's the only time we get to be with these particular friends, so Solomon must stay home

He will get to go to Canada with us this summer - we're all excited about that!

Cute Pictures Ami and Rhonda. These are my two...

We have two Yorkies which are now 5 years old and they are a hoot and we have always had a pet since about 1971. First was a Peekapoo, then two ****z-Zus and not the Yorkies. We won't leave home w/o them and plan our vacations and trips with them as a main consideration since we keep them long haired and boarding is just not a very viable option.

We have a year old Sheltie(Shetland Sheepdog) Toby and we have a one eye cat named "Ojo" sounds like "O-ho"(Spanish for eye).pirate: I know..that sounds wierd.(both my kids take Spanish in school) Ojo was a stray that dropped out from under my daughters car last June, when she saw him she said "oh his poor little ojo is hurt". It stuck. He was not yet four weeks old, and only a pound. He had been dragged away from his littermates probably by a Raccoon or something. His eye was injured, and at first the vet thought it was just an infection, but it turned out it was bitten in the attack. So..'Ojo" needed surgery..and lets face it who else would want a one eyed cat? :confused3 So part of the family he is. Although, I'm pretty sure for same money we paid the vet, we could have gotten a cat with two eyes! Anyway, he looks like a little stuffed animal with one of the eyes sewed closed, and honestly I don't even notice it anymore. He is a tough guy..acts like he owns the place.

Toby our Sheltie is Ojo's best buddy, and they are two pea's in a pod. Since Ojo had no mama, Toby sort of took over the role. They hang out in the yard together, and Ojo tries to follow along when Toby goes on his walks. They sleep back to back..and eat each others food. I call them Fur brothers..I know..my son thinks that stupid.:rolleyes1
We would love to take Toby on trips, and we took him several times last summer ..only we found out Toby gets car sick. Yep..I thought it was a puppy thing he'd outgrow. NOPE..he barfs every hour or so.:scared: Poor thing hates the truck. My vet said there is a new medication on the market now, so we are going to be trying that for our next trip.
So, that's my story, one dog that pukes:crazy2: , one cat with one eye. pirate: That's us... :grouphug:

Well, thanks to all the positive feedback I received about whether or not we should bring our new little girl, we will be staying at Ft. Wilderness for the 1st time with a puppy. She is a 4 months old boxer mix and weighs 31 lbs! We love her and can't imagine leaving her behind. We are very excited!:dogdance:

That's the best age to train a doggie to enjoy the camper, we took our Cockapoo to the beach at 4 months and now you just open the camper door and he's so excited.
I hope you guys have the best time at the fort. Your boxer is beautiful !

We have two Siamese cats ( TC, a lilac point & Princess, a chocolate point ) that travel with us. They came with us to FW in '07 and will again be there this April. You can usually see them laying in the windshield of the coach enjoying the sunshine.

( that's TC )

The cats were the reason we switched from a fifth wheel to the coach. It's easier to travel with them in the coach rather then the truck, where the room was limited.

If our vacations include taking the coach, which 95% of them do, then the fur kids are with us.

Auntie...I have 2 one eyed cats....they both lost there eyes fighting, apparently. They get along just fine though....not with each other, they act like they hate each other, I meant they get along in life just fine. I really like these cats...never was a cat person before...but Ive seen both of these cats attack my wifes limp wristed chihuahua for no reason other than he was in striking distance. Cats are cool. Right after the attacks...the dog stood up on his hind legs, put one paw on his hip and the other pointed in the cats direction, swingin his head from side to side and said in the gayest spanish accent ''Why you gotta be hatin on me, I aint done you nuttin!"

Ok I made that part up, but the cats DID high five each other when they finished kickin his butt........Ok, thats not true either, but in my head it all went down like that!!!

OOOOoooohhh....and in order to stay on topic, I bring some kids with me camping so I really cant bring any pets....last time I brought both kids and pets, the kids ate whatever mess the pets left on the floor!!

Oh..that's funny, I know the attitude. I think because we've had "ojo" since he was only a few weeks old, he truly thinks Toby(the dog) is his mother. They are truly what I'd call the "odd couple". It's almost as if he has both cat and dog characteristics. If they are on the back deck and hear a noise coming from the front of the house, the cat looks at the dog ...with that "so, what do you want to do about this". He takes his cue from Toby. If the dogs gets up and sticks his head through the rails to take a look, then Ojo will hop up on the rail over his head and look also. It's very comical. If Toby recognizes the sound and figures he's just gonna lay there..the cat has this.."oh..right me to..I knew we didn't have to get up"..but he always throws a glance Toby's way..as if to say "are ya sure?". They even run and play together, like dogs would. It's the funniest thing, because I had a cat for 17 years..and she barely tolerated the dog we had at the time. They co-exhisted, but that's it. Cat ruled the house..and the dog was graciously:worship: allowed to live here! I'm not sure Ojo knows he's all cat, and thinks he's part dog too..but thankfully, he still has that cat-atitude, in that he doesn't sniff the dogs butt, the way Toby does his. He actually looks as if he's thinking "why do you have to do this?". Toby is like.."yep, smells the same way it did yesterday". ..and then they're off!
