We will have a rental car so will be able to shop ahead for our short cruise on the Wonder. I understand Disney will allow you to bring aboard soda, water, beer. I have this expandable rolling ice chest... looks like a square fabric covered box on wheels with pull up handle. It sure would make bringing the liquid refreshments on board a lot easier... but have heard there are no 'coolers' allowed. How do other cruisers bring their sodas/water/ etc on the ship??

Thanks for the help

As long as it is a soft-sided cooler, you can bring it onboard as a carryon. Just don't use any ice in the cooler.

I have a luggage set with the smallest rolling suitcase being just perfect in size for 2-12 packs of the all important diet coke....I chill the 12 packs overnight before cruise in our garage ref. - then early morning of the cruise, I place them into the suitcase....I dont even bother lugging this suitcase around the terminal and onto the ship....I just check it with the other luggage....Once it arrives at the stateroom, I just unload the cans right into the stateroom beverage cooler - alas, frosty cold refreshment for the entire cruise...

One additional benefit is that the empty suitcase now becomes available to pack souveniers in for the ride back home...

We just got back from our 1/18 Wonder cruise. We took our large rolling hard cooler and had no problem at all. We didn't pack ice in it, just soda, beer, water, and liquer. We had ice put in the cooler when we got into our room. We used it for the dirty clothes on the way home.

Thanks guys.
Nato,,, did you bring the cooler onboard with you or check it in with your luggage at the terminal??

DH does what alexandrew does. Check it in the luggage, and upon arrival in stateroom, put it in cooler. It's great, because you can use that extra piece of luggage for souveniers when you return home:D

somewhere around these boards I thought I read that your were not permitted to bring any beverages on board. I'm usually a "rule follower" LOL!!, and I'm a cruise "newbie", don't want to feel like a newbie and pay for soda's for 4 days, (traveling with 4 teens) when I can be like the rest of my cruisers and BYOB.. So should I take a "risk" and bring my own????
Wonder 4/04/04 and can't wait!!:Pinkbounc

crissyp - DCL is the only cruise line that allows you to bring your on beverages on board. You will not be breaking any rules. The only thing they ask is that you pack it in your carry-on and not your checked luggage. I know there are some people who talk about putting it in the checked luggage and DCL will not stop this, but think about what would happen if one or two of those cans of soda leaked. Not only would it cause a security issue (they would not know what is leaking and have to call in the HazMat team, learned this from the airlines) but if it leaked on someone else's suitcase it could possibly get on their clothes. Bring what ever you want on board but bring it in your carry-on luggage.

We took the cooler as a carry-on. No one seemed to mind at all. We we entered the terminal, they did look in and then just smiled and said, "have a great trip." It was on wheels so it was not a problem just rolling it along with us until we could get into our room.

I have a question. When bringing your own liquor and mixes do you mix before you go into the clubs at night or bring both and mix in the club?

We were just on the Magic....great trip btw.

It would be a bad idea and probably not allowed to mix in club.
We had mini bottles, though, and "enhanced" some of our frozen drinks while we were on deck.

The drinks were surprisingly strong though. Then again we were on the cruise where they filmed "According to Jim", and I think Disney was sure people were quite happy, especially on the first night!

Dont forget, depending on the port, you can get more beer, etc...

Let me get this straight! It's okay with Disney if we bring liquor on board? We brought a fifth of Whiskey on our Carnival Cruise, but had to hide it very well! I can't imagine how we could pack a case of beer. The thought of our family pulling the Polar Roller through the airport is hilarious! I guess it'd be best to stop at a liquor store in our rental car on the way to the port, and pack it in our soft side collapsible cooler. Is there a convenient place to stop between WDW and the port? What are the liquor store hours there? I sound like a total drunk! On the contrary, I'm just very cheap!!

what about drinks like Dr.Pepper and Pepsi? and are there mini marts or a super wal mart near port?

No need to hide with Disney. They allow you to BYO, so you don't have to be "smuggler".

They only have Coca-Cola products, so if you have preference for another brand you'll need to bring your own.

As for where to buy...

Please...please...please DO NOT pack beer, soda, etc. in your checked luggage. It may not only leak into your suitcase, but into the luggage of others. On our 1/10/04 cruise - one of our bags (containing husbands new suit and 2 long skirts of mine) arrived beer soaked. Luckily husband's suit was okay but the bottoms of both my skirts were beer soaked, plus the suit bag absorbed quite a bit of beer. DCL cleaned my skirts but it took quite a bit of scrubbing with antibacterial cloths to get the beer smell out of the lugggage.

On our June trip we brought a case of beer and some "Mike's Lemonade". I carried the Mike's in a bag on to the ship. DH bought the beer on the way (our towncar driver stopped for us). We had an empty suitcase. DH was at the port trying to quickly put the beer in the suitcase discreetly. A DCL baggage person came over and assisted him! He told DH that he'd bring his own too!

We used the extra suitcase in the end for souvies!

:cool1:

If we bring wine with us, are we allowed to bring to dinner and give to the server? Or, is what you bring, just for your room?

We like wine with dinner, but what they charge on the ship is about a 300% markup. Was wondering if we are allowed to BYO into the dining room and have the server mark it and have it follow us like if you purchased it at dinner time?

thanks for the info...:)

I was wondering too about liquor store hours - we are going onboard on a Sunday and I was gonna do a Limo stop at Publix and/or a liquor store - will they be open - if not do they sell wine/beer (not 3.2) at the Publix on Sunday???

Thanks for any help....
