Bringing vodka in our luggage?

We have a bottle of vodka we want to bring down to WDW. It is a glass bottle (thick tho-Svedka), and my husband thinks I should transfer it to a cleaned out Gatorade bottle, to alleviate the possibility of it breaking in our suitcase. Good idea or not?

Just wrap it well in bubble wrap, put it in a plastic bag and pack it in the middle of a suit case surrounded by clothes. We did that after buying duty free liquor on a cruise. That works very well.

I've never transported glass before and I called Southwest Airlines... the rep. was confident that those Starbucks glass coffee cases were going to be fine in checked bag. As stated above, probably a good idea to take the extra precautions by packing clothes around it and such.

Most, if not all, airlines require alcohol to be contained in its original retail packaging. Some allow it to have been opened and resealed while others require that it is "unopened" which I guess means "never been opened after purchase" (of course it is unopened or else it would all empty out...).

That is how I pack wine bottles. Bubble wrap, plastic bags and tape it well.

As others have said, leave it in the original bottle and wrap it well.
If screening in the baggage area detects an anomaly (from it being decanted into a different bottle), the TSA will probably pull your bag and dispose of the bottle since they can't identify the liquid inside (and it definitely doesn't match the label on the bottle)

If you are really worried about the glass bottle, there are several manufacturers who package their products in plastic bottles now...although, maybe not the brand you prefer.

In case you were unaware, you can buy full bottles of various types of alcohol (I don't know if Svedka is available or not) in the resort gift shops.

Over the last few years I have brought bottles of wine, other alcohol, perfume and multiple mugs and glasses longhaul transatlantic from LA to Europe. As PP have said wrap it well and in a plastic bag and then place the bag in the middle of the case surrounded by clothes.

I have transported lots of alcohol in checked luggage and none has ever broken yet...make sure it is well padded.

As someone said, you can purchase alcohol at resort gift shops. But it's pricey and there are only a few brands available. I frequently transport glass bottles in checked luggage, no problems ... yet!

I've packed wine in my checked luggage before, and it arrived safely. What you can do is either look for a padded carrier that fits that bottle size OR you can use a lot of bubble wrap. I also read a helpful hint for when you don't have bubble wrap. Place two flip flops around the bottle and then wrap it in a plastic, hotel laundry bag. It's not perfect, but it helps. (And it worked for me the one time I tried it.)

Seriously, leave it in the original container. Wrap it well. Make sure you put it inside something relatively leakproof. And enjoy your trip!

When you bag it, add an absorbent layer inside to soak up anything that does leak. You can use a towel, paper towels, or even a disposable diaper if you have some.

Plastic rap. Put in middle of your clothes. Have done more than once never had a problem. Put it in a plastic garage bag just to make sure

OP never sampled that brand of vodka but believe you have many options in the same price range that are packed in plastic bottles if willing to go that route.

We often use a product when travelling called a rum runner, a plastic flask type container, comes in various sizes/manufacturers. I've been using the same set for years, works well.

Nobody wants a bottle to break in/on their luggage.

Often have one or two 8 oz sized ones in our checked bags, fill approx 3/4 full.

I pack it in with my toiletries. Never an issue from TSA or cruiselines. YMMV
