Those with teens going on board... Will you give your kids a maximum amount to spend on the cruise. I know that they either have spending privedges or no privledges. What will you do? We were considering giving the boys an amount to spend per day and then every so often we'd go to Guest Services to make sure they are following the guidelines we set up for them.

I guess the only thing they could spend money on is drinks (virigin mixed) or the arcade. The arcade is what concerns me!

Deb

Hi Deb, DD is saving up her babysitting money for cruise goodies. I will add to that enough for one smoothie day. That is her budget and she needs to stick to it. In the past the kids have been responsible for telling me about anything they have charged. Mine have been very good about this. The lesson must have stuck. We gave oldest DD charging privledges on a card for emergencies before she went to work for the mouse and she called before she used it. Who knew we could teach life lesson's on a cruise :flower:

This is again a big file (only 6 pages, but a lot of disk space). So be patient trying to open it. Only one left!!! Remind me again why I wanted to do this :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Yippee!! I started working on the August 1 issue as well. Have a long list of what needs to be included! I have a feeling it will be the biggest one yet!

Bring the kids, bring their bathing suits, heck bring your neighbors. Free food is available from Pluto's Dog House and Pinocchio's Pizzeria and drinks are available from the drink station near the Mickey Pool. Bar service is available by the pool as well. Starting time will be 10AM and it can go till the last Fool drops.***

Don't forget to bring my birthday cake.:rotfl2:

I really don't spend all my time on this board....but I sure am wishing for the Magic! Just finished the shopping list (for today, anyhow), and soon the latest adobe update will have downloaded so that I can read the latest newsletter.

I'm just sort of bummed out today....and need a dose of my favorite ship!

Okay another silly teen question...

My oldest is getting ready to have his braces put on. I didn't think about our cruise. Do you think I should wait until we get back? Any of you with teens think this is a problem? I guess the only thing I see is some delicious sticky, hard, chewey dessert he will want to eat and then cant!

Deb

Our DS is also getting braces, and we are waiting until we get back. Not so much because of the discomfort, but if something happens to them while we're on the ship, I think we'd have a pretty tough time finding an orthodontist who brought all of his "tools".

Okay, again I admit I don't keep up...was the latest Mark and Sandra post a Dismeet post...if so we're there, 3 people. I admit, it finally hit me last night, I do not have enough clothes !!! My job requires virtually nothing I'd wear on a cruise....my uniform is a $12 blouse, blue jeans or capris, a $20 bag, and during the summer $8 slides (bought 3 years ago), and during the winter $85 boots that are two years old. I have 4 dresses in my closet, and one pair of nice black slacks. My capris are outdated, will have to buy new. My DH hates my slides so will have to replace those too...my dentist thought they were cute, don't understand why DH has to be difficult...and don't think my $4 XXL white T-shirts I wear for bed are going to make it for cover-ups and sleepwear. Like it isn't enough that I've ordered books and gotten the passports taken care of ??? I have a sense I'm too late to order door plates, name tags, or T-shirts...can we just be recognized as the tall loser family ? How did this creep up on me ? Is my family going to be the bridge between Disers and non-disers ? How humiliating...I booked w/in the first hour, and am this far behind !!!

Don't know where you are, but if you have Mervyn's they are having an incredible clearance sale on all their summer clothes for everyone right now. I think today is the last day of the three day sale. I got great cruise skirts for $5.00 and tank tops for $3 - $5 and I know they had capris but I can't wear them so I didn't really focus on them. I had to purposely stay away from the shoes because over the last year since we booked I have bought 4 pairs of sandals that "would be perfect for the cruise" and I would have gone crazy probably buying more and then trying to figure out how to pack them all! Don't want a room that looks like MJ's girls with 40+ pairs of shoes;)

Ed...Didn't even think about something going wrong and trying to figure out what to do. You made me feel better about cancelling his appointment! Thanks!

Also, can we be added to the Dis Meet at the Goofy pool? There are 2 adults, 2 kids.

Thanks Everyone!

Deb

Tracy,

As always, an absolutely brillian newsletter. I can't believe we are almost there! So looking forward to thanking you in person for all your wonderful endeavours. I take my hat off to you, sister.

Pam

Was at Walmart today getting a few cruise supplies, etc. For any seamstresses out there, they had a collection of Mickey, Pooh, and Princess prints. Unfortunately, they didn't have the sunscreen I wanted, but think I got everything else!

One more thing completed.

I can't beleive how close this cruise is getting. It has always been so far away since we booked the 1st day.

I have to get into we are going on vacation soon mode!

I do have a list of items that need to be purchased. I did buy the scalp spray sunscreen for DD and the airborne. I hope I bought enough of that. I got 2 boxes. Do I need more? I bought a new bathing suit. I have formals, but I need to try things on to see if they fit yet since I have lost 24 pounds since the last cruise.

I have never had braces, but DH has. Glad you are putting the appointment off until after returning.

The pleurisy is almost gone. It has been misearable. It seems a lot of people have had it this year for some reason.

Can't wait for this trip of a lifetime!

You must not have been looking hard enough or in the right place! I even posted a trip report! :flower:

Since we're at the pool, you can add on the other DD...that is if you're still keeping track. No headcount needed for the pool, right?

Mark & Sandra...Thanks !!!

Whiskers...Thank-you, am so afraid of being the only Diser that doesn't have it together.

DenverVal...we have Mervyns, but I have a 35" inseam and I'm a size 8...hello, this hasn't changed in the last 10 years, you'd think I'd have realized I need to start shopping earlier...but no, for some reason had the idea that everything was just peachy until I woke up in a cold sweat 2 nights ago...

Dairyou...is our weather preparing us or what ? O.K, no humidity, but still !!! Pays to be a Sacramento girl !!!

To all...my weekend project...order a magnetic door sign, Ts and night shirts for me...DH refuses to go along w/ this...at one point Three Circles had cute flipflops w/ green beads ? Need all of this to be prepared.

Have faxed DCL DS's diet requirements...realize I'll be taking along quite a bit of food...they haven't gotten back to me...is that good or bad ?

Need to switch our dining from early to late...

On the bright side...I have completed my bookbuying for the cruise !!! Don't have sunglasses, sunscreen, clothes, souvenirs, etc...but am feeling pretty darn smug that the reading materials are taken care of...just an aside...am I the only one that reads about hiking the Appalachian or Pacific Crest Trails when I'm on the Magic ? Sure it sounds great when I'm on one of the lounge chairs on deck 4. Anyone want to start a thread on doing one of these ?

Today here in Sacramento it was 106. We left this morning to run errands, but was back at home by 11:00. I think it was 94 degrees by the time we got home. I was thinking the exact same thing about being ready for the Panama Canal. Then I started wondering how much worse it will be on the cruise then the heat today.

I actually printed my packing list and looked at it today. I think I have caught procrastinators disease in the last few years. If this had been 3 years ago I'd be packed and ready to go.

I did pick up my books from the library though so I am set with reading materials. I've timed it so the books will need to be returned by 9/5 :) I don't even want to think about that date :earboy2:

Thank you Tracy for another awesome newsletter. Just got done reading it!

Darn - now why didn't I think of that! What a good idea to bring library books instead of spending all that $$$ that I did at the bookstore. :guilty:
I just finished the Da Vinci Code that I was on a waitlist for from the library - I must be the last person on the planet to read it!

Not the last. I bought it for DH to read on the cruise. I think he will really like the book from what I have heard. I still have not found a book for myself. Any recommendations? I don't read a lot myself. Mostly read with DD who is 8. I guess I could read a few June B. Jones books Lord knows we have enough! ;)

In the newsletter, but posted here for those of you that don't read every word ;)

A few months back, I came across a book by Melinda Long called “How I Became a Pirate”. I thought it was a cute book and decided to pick up a few copies. I mailed copies to some of my fool friends’ children for them to enjoy. I would have liked to get a copy for everyone, but I haven’t won the lottery yet, so that just wasn’t happening. I would like to share the book with all the children onboard though.

I’m planning to hold this event on August 26 at 9:30 a.m. at a secret location! Invitations will be delivered by fish mail once onboard. There will also be a few “ship” prizes (can’t have door prizes at a pirate party) for the attendees. If your child would like to join in, please PM or e-mail me with their names, stateroom number and your online name. Information will be in the Navigator as to the location if you forget to contact me and don’t get an invitation.

I love June B Jones! She is so funny. I think your DH will like Da Vinci Code - the library copy was the illustrated version so I got to see pictures too.
I don't have any good recommendations for cruise reading - I just picked up a few books from the "chick lite reading" section at the bookstore. LOL
So I guess they won't be difficult reading! :rotfl2:
That's OK - don't want to have to think too much on vacation.

Tracy: That is so nice of you to arrange the pirate book reading! I'm not sure if the boys will want to come - is it mostly younger children? (They get embarrassed so easily!)
Diane

The book was recommended for ages 5-8 but given the theme, I found that all of the kids liked it and I sent it to 6-14 year olds.
