Bringing The Magic Home - 8/20/05

Marsha,

I'm confused...just probably because I don't pay attention very well :(

I see on this website the picture of the lanyard: (Had to edit due to Dis Boards rules)...

But then, I also read that the lanyard had writing on it also. Can you clear this up for me please :)

Thanks,
Deb

Deb, the lanyards say Ship of Fools, 2005. I did not have a sample with the correct art work, that is why the one in the newsletter and on the merchandise site is plain green. Hope that helps!

Attention, will the DISer with the last name of Eacobedo please PM me, I need some info from you before I send the lanyards out to you!

I was packing today and found a beautiful dress that I bought from the Disney outlet store acouple of years ago. It is brand new. My upper arms are to big to ever ware. It is a size 14. The dress was a christmas dress with black velvet top and red and green tafita bottom with velvet mickey heads all over the bottom. If any one would like to have it, and can fit in the dress, just PM me and I will send it to you. The Dress is to beautiful to throw away. I know someone on our cruise would love it.

Hello fellow cruisers. The lanyards are here!!! I will begin sorting them into envelopes and get them to the PO tomorrow. As of right now I have about 30 extra, if any newbies would like to get any, PM me and I will make those arrangements. The look totally awesome!

Yeah! :cool1: I can't wait to get the lanyards Marsha! One more step closer to The Magic! :goodvibes

Tracy,

We have been tasting a lot of wines to find one to bring for the tasting. I just can't decide. I guess I had better keep tasting! ;)

Rough job -- but somebody has to do it :rotfl2:

Actually - Benita & I better get started -- we know which winery we want to get from -- just got to find a store in our area that carrys it.

The scarifices we make for a cruise   We are (according to the weatherman) heading for another extended heat wave in the 90's later this week. Guess I'll have to make sure the new snorkel gear works...

You've got a lot of good ones to choose from up there! Sounds like a difficult job, but I think you can handle it :flower: :drinking1

Lanyards have been mailed to those who sent the envelopes and postage. Some fools will get theirs in person at the Allentown DIS meet, some will be delivered to the HISP, and some will get them on the ship. I think they cam out really neat, and if I had my digital camera I would post a picture, but since it is in use by DH whilst his is in for repair, I guess y'all will have to wait till the envelopes get to your homes.

Can't wait to get the lanyards Marsha. Thanks for all your work!

We are staying at the Holiday Inn and pretty much have given up the idea of going to DL. I think we will just be lazy around San Pedro.

Tracy, I will not be buying my wine until I hit CA. so I will not have any info for you. Sorry.

Denine, hope you had a fantastic time at WDW. Missed you.

Sandy, just let me know as soon as you know (even if it is on the ship). I will be able to do my stuff then (just didn't want to do it for all of the wine at once on the ship). Thanks!

Tracy

Us too Tracy. I understand there are places to purchase wine near our hotel in California and we are going to buy it there.

BTW, are we sticking to wine or is champagne OK too?

don't know about the champagne, but I (and I think maybe a few others) are planning on bring some non alcholic. Like sparling cider, etc.

We were at a Travel show on Saturday. I picked up some maps of Cabo San Lucas and Acapolco. I'll see if I can scan them in. I haven't really had to look at them. The guy must have though I was nuts cause I picked up at stack of about 10 each.

We also won free Pizza for a year and a 2 night stay at a casino in Reno.

Then Howard tried his luck at winning a bottle of wine. He did. Does this count as our wine. Quite unique the label says the name of some morgage firm (I guess inorder to go on a trip you need to refinance your house?) Don't even know if the label states what the name of the wine. With Howard's luck at finding wine (and choice of drinks :) ) he may not be able to bring anything else.

By the way Tracy, they've got the Mickey antenae balls back in stock.

Sure, we can count that wine, but I may have to find another drink for Howard to try onboard :teeth: Just tell me what the label says. It's probably normal wine with a special label (we have some that will do bride and groom names for weddings, etc.).

Can you pick me up one of the golden Mickey antenae balls if you think of it? I'll need one for my secretary (plus a few other things if she keeps my office running while I'm cruising!)

Kathy, champagne is ok too. If you know what kind you are getting, just getting it in California, you can let me know ahead of time.

It seems Disneyland has been having problems with their new fireworks show. It is so popular, and best viewed from in front of the castle, that they've been having huge crowds with no where to stand, and getting people out of the area afterward is just as bad. Last weekend they tried a new experiment. Don't know if they'll keep it, but I'm guessing they might. They have reversed the Electrical Parade in DCA making it harder for people to watch the Electrical Parade and then zoom over to DL in time for the fireworks. I'm sure it will disapoint a lot of people, but if you've ever been stuck in front of the castle jammed in with 500 of your closest neighbors, you realize that it does help. They also try to get people to stay after fantasmic instead of rush out to the castle area. The problem is by about 9:15 mainstreet all the way up to the castle is stand on top of people room only, and getting an influx of people from DCA and Fantamsic makes it even worse.

If I hear any more I'll let you know, but at the moment, you might want to plan not to see fireworks and DCA on the same day. You can see them from the plaza area and even from DCA, just not all the effects of the castle, etc.

Donna

Well, we went yesterday for Father's Day and while both parks were surprisingly not as crowded as we expected (we go every Father's Day and have seen far worse than yesterday) an extra thousand or two people showed up for the fire works. We stood in the park with the statue of Walt right where Main Street ends and the park begins and it took us at least 25 maybe 30 minutes to get out of the park. I have never seen that many people in the Main Street area. Donna's description of "stand on top of people room only" is very accurate! However, all that said, you must try to see the fireworks. These are by far the BEST Disney has ever done and if you can try to see them from inside the park so you don't miss the special effects around and on the castle and Matterhorn you won't be disappointed.

I can't decide between white, red or dessert. I keep trying them ALL! :rotfl2:

Our two wine clubs are from California. I can't bring something from California. :rotfl: So I have to taste locally too! ;)

I will let you know what I come up with!

I will be watching for the envelope in the mail. DH goes to Alaska on Friday so he can't see them until he returns! We are hoping he brings back some Salmon and Halibut. :boat:

I am sampling a nice Colorado wine as we speak...very sweet, but not bad...I'll need to keep experimenting...by the time we get on board the ship, I will have already sampled a few dozen wines!

Sounds like fun Val..

I'd ask my brother for help -- but he is a California wine snob ... when he married in '02 he registered at Wine.com :rotfl2: Actually they had no need of other gifts since they were combining two households into one.

FYI for anyone looking for transportation to the Port on Saturday morning ...

Bob has arranged this for his fellow "Fools":

"Right now I have 71 people scheduled for the HoJo to Port bus(es). I have seats for 66! So I need to upgrade equipment one more time. I have added Bob320 and StealthDisney to the list. Before I call and arrange for a larger second vehicle, IS ANYONE ELSE OUT THERE INTERESTED IN THE BUS TO THE PORT???? $10 PER PERSON. DEPARTURES FROM HOJO'S AND GRAND CALIFORNIAN. My guess is the next upgrade will be a second bus (About 24 pax) and eliminate the van. If that is the case, I would have room for about 9 more people. But I need to close this process soon with a final count. So if interested, PM me soon and I will make final arrangements."

If you are interested in this, please PM me for further details. Thanks!

Arlene

DisneyElf...I sent you a PM.....

I need to get cracking on packing as we are going on an 8 night cruise next week out of NYC....and having house guests prior to that....could be an interesting week!!!
