Don't mind me.. I'm just stirring the pot (some more) :stir: (I've read some stuff on other places when I googled, but it wasn't the main discussion)
and apologies if this has already been discussed here or if it's the wrong forum 🙏

Has anyone been to Shanghai Disneyland and experienced it in person? What was it like? What did you think?

[spoiler alert]
I'm not a huge fan of using those screens, but I feel like it's implemented very well here (probably the best I've seen, even better than any of Universal's Harry Potter rides imo and I like those rides)

The only thing is space and the fact that it'll be a complete overhaul (new ride system apparently), but it does look like they have space to expand.

Of course there are defenders of Orlando's PotC, but I'm sure that's because it's nostalgic for them.. it's nearly identical to the California one and the general consensus seems to be that California's version is "better" ..some even saying that Orlando's version is the "worst" out of all the PotC rides globally ( :sad1: ). California's PotC should stay the same for the sole reason of it being "the" classic one (also, I don't think there is any adequate space to expand there even if they wanted to), so people can still have the original/nostalgic one existing in the states. Like how they changed Tower of Terror in California to Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout, but kept the original ToT in Hollywood Studios.

Do you think there isn't much interest in PotC anymore? I think there's still a solid fanbase/audience (me included), but there has definitely been a lot of talk and delay regarding the future of the franchise, but, I mean, the ride existed before the movies so..
and they did bring the Tron ride over, so I'm going to hope that maybe some day it could happen (unless ofc everyone is opposed to the idea - but there was a lot of backlash for ToT turning into GotG:MB and that didn't stop them lol)

Would you be excited to see this in Orlando MK? or do you hate the idea?

I know the classic version of PotC is in the US, but having experienced the Shanghai version - it's our favorite Disney attraction anywhere in the world. Actually, our favorite attraction period (not just Disney). You really can't get the experience from the video. Absolutely amazing. That being said, I doubt they need (or will) bring it to the US - but if they did? Yea, we'd be there for it every trip! If you look at the evolution, they created the original PotC, which eventually led to the movies. Then the Shanghai version was created based on those movies - they had a lot to work with since the movies were very successful...... And with the advances in tech over the years, there's really not much of a comparison between the two versions.

Rumors are that either the new Coco or Avatar ride going in at California Adventure will be based on the Shanghai POTC system - just a rumor mind you. I haven't heard anything about something similar coming to WDW though.

The tech is spectacular - I'd be shocked if they didn't use it on other attractions! But even the Shanghai PotC attraction is now almost 10 years old - probably considered old tech by now!

Yeah, but it took them forever to bring the trackless LPS technology over to the States too. Pooh's Hunny Hunt opened in Tokyo in 2000, and Ratatouille opened in Paris in 2014. That old tech still impresses though.

I don’t mind the idea but I’m skeptical of it happening anytime soon. They have two major projects in the works and there’s another iconic ride at MK (Space Mountain) that is in much greater need of an overhaul of some sort IMO. Pirates is old but it’s chugging along fine.

Yeah, I don't see them overhauling classic Pirates anyway. Now, a new ride using the same tech would be more likely. Maybe something in Villains Land could use it?

I've done it. Really, really good! Far surpasses Pirates in any other park (yes, I've been to all the others too) in terms of story telling and technology.
