We're checking in Sunday and have decided to bring our dog this trip. Do we need to call ahead and ask for a pet loop? I've already done online check-in.

In a RV I can definitely see and have brought our dog on vacation. It is our second home and she was part of the family.

I would not bring a dog to a hotel on vacation. I would be afraid for her safety being where someone else could come and go and she might get out. Or being in a strange place she might not be as well behaved as she is in a familiar setting.

We did board her 2 times, both times ended in a Vet visit. First was because she didn't poop being in a strange place and second was eye infection probably due to cleaning chemicals used there.

We brought our dog one year because the boarding available to us at home at that time was not sufficient. This was probably 10 years back and we were staying at BWV, but boarded our dog at the kennel in existence at the fort at the time.

We had an excellent trip and we were able to visit our dog and take her for walks at any time. In addition the CM's at the kennel were excellent with her and one young guy seemed to take to her and she got a lot of extra attention.

I haven't needed to board an animal since than as I've been able to use in home services or a family member has been home. But being able to take my dog on that trip saved our vacation as I was not leaving her where I was not 100% comfortable with her welfare.

That visit started my love of the Fort.

We bring our dog because he is part of our family. In fact it was a major reason to buy a motor home so we could bring our dog on vacations. (three dogs ago)

That's one of the reasons we have a camper as well. Dog loves to go camping. We just make sure to break up our day so he can go out and relieve himself.

Exactly this. We love traveling with them and they love traveling. It is our home on wheels and our family likes to be together. Our boys get way more walking and activity time when we travel than when were at home in our day to day life. We do travel without them a couple of times a year, but we miss them the entire time.

TRS let me tell you a little story. On Our 2nd trip to Disney we had our 2 WookieBear and Maggie in our local kennel. They love going to CAMP there as the owners had young kids who loved to play with them. My wife however wasn't too pleased mostly with me It seems that every other night or so I would sit up in bed calling for them and not lay back down till they came. That was when Lucille decided we were getting a camper so they can come with us
While I love them both my DW says that WookieBear is not my Dog but my DAUGHTER. Three years ago we had to have a growth on her Jaw removed Our vet sent us to a surgeon she said has better skill than she does. During the preliminary examination he discovered the had a large mass in her abdomen Imaging revealed a large tumor and they operated on her the next day a removed her spleen It was not cancer but had begun to become a fibroid tumor that would in time have eventually ruptured and caused her bleed out. That was 36 of the worst and hardest hours I have ever spent. DW Lucille says we could have gotten same news about her and I wouldn't have been as worried or scared. FYI I lived on the Serenity Prayer for those few days. Thursday she turned 14 and I cherish everyday I have with her andpd pray she will be with us to celebrate my birthday and Christmas next month
Last year when Maggie suddenly passed the hole left in our lives was huge. Lucille, WookieBear, and I were lost. To help fill the void we got adopted by the savage Sisters, Sky and Katie and they are part of our family. Where we go they go and while it takes a little more to plan our trips but worth the effort IMHO

Yup, based on our last trip in October - it seems to be the attitude of the staff at the Fort to ignore behaviors, of humans and pets, that would never be tolerated at other campgrounds. Constant barking, dogs being attacked and injured by other dogs, rude owners ...

We love our "boys" but our pups are staying with the dogsitter during our upcoming trip. During our last visit, we could not even walk them in our loop for fear of their safety (the attacking dog was allowed to remain). Leaving them behind won't solve the ignorant owner problem, but its a start for our own peace of mind. Sadly, we can no longer request a dog-free loop.

FWIW - the 900 Loop is a favorite of "regulars" whose dogs bark nonstop, even when they are present.

Just a question - how many dog owners really know how your furbabies behave when you are away from your RV? We invested a great deal of time insuring that our odgs were quiet quests, even when we were away. We learned that the horse and carriage rides at FW set them off whenever they passed, so we don't stay in those loops anymore. Sadly, we frequently are subjected to howling, barking pets that are left for hours on end, and don't get me started on the poop!!!!!!

I agree with you to a point. My 3 are Class A Bad Asses as long as they have a barrier between them any anything or anyone else other wise it's hide behind Daddy. We have poop bag carriers attached to their leashes and I keep 3 to 5 bags in my back pocket for emergency use.
If you want to understand the dogs behavior look at the people. If family has no bounds what can you expect from the dogs Still when there is an aggressive dog reported it would be nice if Disney did more to remedy the situation. Now I know some people just don't like dogs and are willing to complain over the mere presence of one so keeping DESIGNATED PET LOOPS would be something I prefer

Wow! A simple question brought out the worst in some of you. Let me clarify, although I don't have to.

1. We are annual pass holders and live less than 2 hours from Disney. This is a short trip and we plan to spend most of our time at Ft Wilderness.

2. We've taken our dog camping many times and she loves it.

3. Our dog is a mutt who weighs 20 pounds and believes she was put on this earth for people to love her.

4. She doesn't bark and if she does we reprimand her. When we are out she'll sleep in the camper the whole time. She will be tethered or on a leash any time we have her outside with us.

5. We always pick up after her.
