Bringing Mom back after 20 years

Hey all! I've got a bit of a conundrum.

I really wanted to do something special for my Mom for her birthday and Mother's Day when it occurred to me that the last time my mother was able to afford a Disney vacation was 20 years ago! (Omg, I was only 5...)

I've been bouncing around Disney for more than a few years now, mostly focusing on the rides and characters which I'm fairly certain she has no interest in. I thought about doing some of the tours, specifically the backstage safari and Epcot aqua Tour since she loves animals.

I don't want to overwhelm her on her first trip back, but I really want to make it something special for her. Is there anything ya'll can think of that would really help make it something amazing? We've got full mobility but can tire quickly.

I rcently had the chance to bring my dad, who hadn't been in over 20 years and it was awesome. He had just survived a serious heart infection a few months before, so we weren' sure what his health would be like, but he did Dr's orders ike a dream and was in great shape (better than he'd been in years, actually!) I hope your trip is as wonderful as ours was!

In our case, grandkids were along too and just watching Disney magic along with them was a treat - no need to do anything extra-special, just be there! However, if you're all adults, maybe you'll be interested in a tour. We are all pretty interested "behind the scens" stuff and thought the Keys to the Kingdom tour sounded really cool (as I said, we didn't end up doing it, though. Regular touring filled our days!)

AK wasn't there 20 years ago, so a trip there was a must. We ended that day with a dinner at Boma, which was our favorite meal of the trip.

Do you have pictures from that last trip? It would be fun to bring prints of them along and use them as an autograph book (if you have an old picture of mom with Mickey, print it out and put it in a spiral autograph book. Show it to Mickey and have him sign the facing page for this year - things like this often lead to great character interactions.

Does she have fond memoies of staying at oe of the original resorts? Or always wished she had stayed at one? Book your stay at her nostalgic favorite if you can. Have a great time!!

When I saw the title of this thread, I thought it was going to have something to do with Madame Leotta! :rotfl2:

Thanks for the great ideas!!

We'll def have to hit up AK I'm sure she'll love the Safari ride since shes a big animal fan.

Sadly, all our old pics were destroyed, but I think we may still have some old video footage I may be able to capture some stills from.

Now here's where we come to my biggest conundrum. The only resort she had ever stayed at was the Poly and, as she puts it, can 'barely remember it'. I wish i could bring her to the Poly but sadly I think it's just too far outside my budget. On the same token though, I'm not sure if AKL is something she'd enjoy and if there could be enough to do to waste nearly a whole day. (I was considering purchasing her some kind of spa treatment since shes also never been able to afford even a massage)

Lol, it took me a bit, but I see what you mean now! Maybe I should have been a little less cryptic? lol
