Hi everyone,

Very excited to be joining everyone on the repo cruise from the Med to bring the Magic home. We were also on the Panama Repo cruise bringing the Magic back to Florida.

There will be myself (Martina), Husband ( Rob ), son ( Jeff age 13 at time of cruising ) and daughter ( Alli age 12 at time of cruisng ).

We live in Nanaimo, a city of 80,000 on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada.

Looking forwards to getting to know everyone..

Martina :wave2:

Martina - I LOVE the picture in your sig! Could not get any cuter!

Hi Martina,

I love the photo in your sig also - too cute!! My DD will be 12 at the time of sailing also. Maybe at some point the kids could get together and have some "chat" time. I know she would love to meet some girls her age before we sail. We also have another DD who will be 3 weeks shy of turning 4 when we cruise.

Hi everyone. What a beautiful day here :sunny: Quite a bit different from the weather last weekend. Last weekend was horrible around here, but I hear that Tennessee got it worse.

For our cruise this September everyone is starting to talk about lanyards and nametags. I don't remember seeing anything here. Are there plans in the works?

Ellen

Welcome to all the newbies!! This is going to be a great cruise.

We have travelled on our own quite a bit over the years, and have picked up some infor on the way that may help others.

Hotels - In response to a few of the concerns about hotels, most European hotels say they sleep two, but almost every hotel has some triple rooms. Also, we found that traveling with a child under 7, they often allow the child to stay free in the parents double room. Many hotels have "family rooms" that sleep 4. Except for children under 7, you often pay per person. The exception sometimes is an American hotel, if the city has Holiday Inn or Marriott, they might allow 4 per room just like the U.S. They are generally more expensive but sometimes it works out better with more than 2 per room.

To get the triple or family rooms, it is best to find the hotel on the web and email them directly. Breakfast generally is included in the price of the room, so check this out, or ask for it when you make your reservations. I find that booking directly with the hotel is likely to get breakfast included if I have asked.

Train - for the overnight train, the second class compartments sleep 4. If you do not fill an entire compartment, you will be put in a same sex compartment with other people. The cabin has a sink. The first class double sleeps 2, and they also have singles. These cabins have a sink. There is also the grande class. It sleeps 2 (or one) has a sink, WC, and shower.

You will note On the RailEurope page two prices for the same description cabin. That is due to capacity control - early purchase gives a price break. There is no difference in what you get, but the early ticket may be only partially refundable.

I have been looking at Barcelona hotel prices and am thankful that we get to stay on the ship one night.

Hope this helps.

Suzanne

My tentative plan right now (and boy am I ITCHING to get some resies done!) is to fly to London, spend a couple of days there, take the Chunnel Tunnel to Paris, spend a few days in France, go to Switzerland for a few days, and take the Train Hotel Elipsos Zurich-Barcelona on the 17th, arriving in Barcelona the morning of August 18, which gives us time to sample the city, check in on the ship, and sample the city some more. I HAVE to see the Sagrada Familia (I'm fascinated by Gaudi), but everything else is optional. I'll be getting the Eurail SelectPass (France-Switzerland-Spain) for me and Keith. If money and / or DVC points permit, we'll spend some time at WDW after the cruise. We have the 10-night this December (with 6 days at WDW before the cruise), and possibly an August trip as an Early b-day trip for Keith. His b-day is in early Sept., but I'll be taking him out of school for 2 weeks in Dec., so late August is the best I can do for his birthday this year.

Where's my Federal Way fellow cruiser? There's a Rainforest Cafe in Southecenter. Let's have lunch! RFC always puts me in a Disney mood!

I'm now planning to fly from Edmonton to London, spend 3-4 days in London and then go to Paris for 3-4 days before the cruise leaves. I haven't checked out hotels yet though. If it ends up being too expensive we'll skip London.

How many formal/semi-formal nights were on the last repo?

Thanks!

WoW....I didn't read this post for 2 days and it grew 5 PAGES!!!

FGM Dee, by the time you go on THIS cruise....you will already know me :woohoo: and Tom pirate: and Linda :hippie: and Ed :surfweb: in the FLESH....that is if your family :grouphug: will allow us to see you on the "Double Dip" in November.....

Thanks for the "EXPANDED Fools" explanation...I don't know if I REALLY know what I am getting into but I am definitely along for the ride  .

Wow! I love to hear about all of your plans and the things you are looking into. Welcome to all the new posters! :sunny:
MartyJay and Maryisme I will also have a 12 year old daughter at the time of sailing. Hope they have a chance to chat! :)

Since we've been talking about kids ages, I was thinking of keeping track of the kids again. For the cruise last year at the end I compiled a list of kids names, parents disname, and cabin number of those who wished to participate, and this was emailed only to those parents. I also think someone else was keeping track of certain age groups so that people could get the disnames of the parents of a certain age for their children to correspond with.

Here is a link to the info I published on the website. I will start going through the pages and pick out info and start a list for this group.

We will be setting up chat for the kids (moderated of course) so they can talk. We have been discussing lanyards and such .... We really need to come up with a t-shirt design - after all only 16 mos. to go :rotfl2:

My apologizes - I got my newest toy today - (last treat from this years income tax refund - and next year is devoted to the cruise). Got a Dell 9150 - 3.0 Ghz, 1 Gig Memory, 160 gig hd - firewire port - dual channel - and all that great stuff - inc. a 17" LCD for free too - only $ 679 - got the office to pay for the XP Pro upgrade (I do IT work at the office and I do a lot of changes from home late at night).

On Monday I also found a great deal on the Microsoft Ergnomic Keyboard 4000 - only $ 22.02 - (reg. $60.) at Office Depot. Ordered one for each of us - timing worked out perfectly to install on the new machine.

The spreadsheet is on the laptop (which didn't even get turned on tonight).

Going to have a lot of catching up to do - since tomorrow is a holiday - not sure how much I can get done :guilty:

I can see SOFPD is going to be a lot of fun. Hopefully - Eurorail will let the groups of 3 into just one compartment - otherwise - we can split the group up ourselves for the one night on the train.

Mine will also be 12 at sailing. Hopefully this time she's a little more interested in emailing/chatting with other kids her age. Last time she was just too young. She was never at a loss for words, but just didn't like to sit down and type her thoughts up. It wasn't really a problem though, she made friends really easily on board and loved hanging out with her new friends at the club or at scoops.

This would be great! It seems as if all of the girls will still be in the lab. :guilty: DD will be 13 at time of cruise and she says she will probably hang out in OQ and not the Stack. Other DDs will be 8 and 4.

I do have a ?? for all of you who did the 1st Aug repo. How did you pack for it?? We will probably be travelling for almost 2 months prior and I have no idea what we will do about clothes! I am glad it turned out that 2 rooms would be cheaper than one. More room for luggage! :rotfl2:

Mix and Match Separates! :thumbsup2

The biggest problem we will all have is the weight limitations on luggage!

I for one, will not bring the fancier formal wear! Will stick to Cocktail dresses and even wear the same one more than once! It will be easier to change a shawl and that will take up less space. By bringing less, you are going to end up doing laundry but well worth it so that you don't get zinged for overweight luggage!

Heck I have a problem trying to keep it under 50 lbs per luggage and they expect me to keep it to 66 lbs Total! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

It definately will prove to be a challenge!

There are two girls that I know of that will be hanging in the Stack! Well most of the time. Add her to the list and we can get them talking before the cruise!

OMG, you have all been very busy. I am trying to keep up with all the pages :surfweb: My office has actually been expecting me to work lately :sad2: How can I work when I have a vacation to plan that is only 16 months away? Oh the humanity.

Thanks for the kids list. It looks like DD8(at time of cruise) will have lots of new friends. :goodvibes

I am also grateful for all of the past repo tips. We are newbies and would do anything to avoid the overpacking of first DCL. The biggest offender was DH and his dress shirts, but he did look good.

Happy planning :Pinkbounc

Great idea Donna. I loved that list that you had on the last Repo.

thanks donna!!! that would be great.....my DD will be 13 at cruise time but my feeling is that she is going to want to do a lot more club type activities than just hang at the stack....her brother will be 10 at cruise time and she may want to be with him sometimes....will that be a problem do you guys think....will she be allowed in club activities? I already told her that she would be able to talk to people online before the cruise and she wanted to know when? when? when?..... :Pinkbounc
