When you go to a school function, this happens to be a sports banquet, do you bring a homemade dish?

I was wondering if it is rude to bring something that is store bought. We need to bring an appetizer. I just am not that great in the kitchen::yes::

Whatever you buy..put in your own dish

I do that all the time for work

I've been to lots of get together's for different things and people do bring store bought stuff. Sometimes there is no way to have time to do something from scratch. I think this is definitely ok to do.

We've had numerous different food functions at my daughter's school and yes, many people pick up store made products.

I haven't really had to bring anything other than cupcakes or cookies.. I usually make my own, and bring in a dish that can be thrown away.. like those tin ones in the baking aisle.

I know someone who takes Mrs. Smith apple pies, removes them from their foil pie pan, and then puts it in their own glass pan and bakes it. I swear the pie actually tastes better that way and it really did seem homemade.

so that pie wasn't home made

I don't do pie...monkeyboy.

the only thing i can actually make well are oatmeal-chocolate chip cookies - so those are always homemade.

I like to take those TGIF potato skins appetizers from the freezer section. I bake them at home (Takes less than 10 minutes), throw them on a pretty platter w/a bowl of sour cream in the middle or on the side. Easy finger food that everyone seems to like and they are good hot or room temp.

Mrs. Smith's deep dish pies are absolutely DELICIOUS, especially the peach one.

To answer your question, I would take a store-bought item if I know it was good quality food.
