Bringing food into Sea World

I just thought I would post our experience bringing food into Sea World.

We were there in early May '09. The first day (Friday) we went through security with some snacks in our bag. Chips, gummy snacks, that kind of thing. The security guards barely even looked at anyone's bag. As long as you opened your bag, they would say, "good" and wave you through.

Saturday, they had a whole new set of guards. Each of these guards were wearing rubber gloves. (Friday's guards did not) They went through each bag throughly, pulling things to the side, making sure to check everywhere. The SG said to us, "snacks are fine, but you can't bring in sandwiches". The woman behind me asked "Why no sandwiches?" The SC told the woman it was because people were packing in sandwiches (and by that, I think she meant lunch in general) and they would eat at the tables at the restaurants. She said, "People who PAID for their lunches didn't have a place to sit!"

Oh, and Mama Stellas pizza was WAY overpriced for what you get. (super tiny pizza worth a few bucks at most but it cost around $8-$10) The chef salad at Rocky Point Cafe was also super tiny and had some pretty gross lunch meat on it. Shipwreck Reef Cafe and Calypso Bay Smokehouse were our favs in the park.

Hope this helps someone!

Sorry you were inconvenienced. I get really annoyed by inconsistent things.

Seaworld's Food and Beverage policy is that no sandwiches, meals, snacks, flavored beverages, etc. may be taken in. Water bottles are the only thing that they have to allow in according to their policy. There are supposed to be lockers just outside the gate, and you can always leave your food in a cooler in your car with lots of ice next time. I bring in snacks and know that if there's an extra-viligant security person on duty that I may have to ditch them. Are they trying to get more money out of you? Yup. And trying to protect your lunch and their seagulls from each other as well.

We ate at the Mango-something last weekend and the sandwiches were all good, but the adult one was a bit small. It was a bit more than I wanted to spend, but we eat a big breakfast and leave the park before dinner.

We were not inconvienced at all. I just wanted to pass along the food policy that the security guard shared with us :)

While their official policy is no food/snacks/drinks, they will allow bottled water and snacks through no problem.

Have fun everyone, and don't sit in the splash zone unless you really want to get SOAKED :)
