What are the rules re: bringing food into the parks.

We are a family of 5, and we have PS for dinners, but I would like to be able to bring lunches in to save some money.

What can i do????

Thanks.

Not a problem. Most people carry backpacks (like myself) full of sandwiches, snacks, juices, etc to eat throughout the day at the parks. We have three kids (9,7,4) also and not only is it a big cost savings, but it saves a lot of time by not running around looking for a place to get something to drink/eat, especially if we are already standing in line for a ride (they seem to be thirsty every 10 minutes). Even so, we still spend money for ice cream and other goodies, but it does save us a considerable amount of money.

Disney is rather lenient when it comes to bringing in food, you'll see many doing the same. I just wouldn't recommend pulling on wheels a huge Coleman cooler packed with sandwiches and sodas...this they may frown upon,....you get the idea.

Enjoy !

No problem, just no glass bottles. We bring string cheese or the little Babybel cheeses, crackers, peanut or cashew packs, etc. The security people check the bags, but have never said anything about what we bring in. We usually eat breakfast in the room and we are very good at saving $!

Disney does ask that no outside food be brought into the parks. I'm sure they don't mind snacks, but I don't think that they're looking for people to bring in full lunches.
That being said, I see people do it all the time and no one ever seems to get stopped for it. This will of course start a debate just like having people share mugs and having more than 4 people staying in a room meant for 5 to save some money.

We have family members with health problems and at times they must eat certain things and eat now, so we have taken food into the park with us. One time I froze several items and put them into the lockers with an ice pack(or frozen juice boxes) and that way they were still good in the evening. It has never been a problem for us.

We do it all the time - no problem at all. We've got a small cooler that I put in the bottom of our stroller loaded with drinks. Then I put sandwiches in the backpack. We usually eat breakfast at the hotel, pack lunch, and then we'll eat dinner somewhere in the park. Even then we split the meals, buy an extra bun for the double cheeseburgers, use the drinks we've brought, etc.

Honestly, I've never seen anything where Disney has asked for food not to be brought into the parks.

The "no outside food or drink" message is posted all over the place. However, they do turn a blind eye as long as you don't try to bring in glass containers, alcoholic beverages, or large coolers.
(The one glass container that they'll make an exception for is jarred baby foods.)

I would like to point out one thing that you should be aware of as a courtesy if you bring in your own meals. Please do not sit down to eat them at the counter service restaurants unless you are actually buying food, at least, not unless the place is virtually deserted. Part of the price that you pay at those venues is meant to cover the use of the facilities, and if picnickers take the tables, the paying customers cannot find a place to sit.

Many thanks for replying to my question. I never thought of bringing cheese strings - great idea!

It was a relief to read all the positive replies.

Thanks!!!

=o)

I remember one of the security guards checking our soft-sided cooler before entering MGM and saying to the kids "You sure are going to have a good lunch today!" So I think it must be pretty common. However, I think I read somewhere that you can't bring outside food and drink into AK, which makes sense to me. (Besides with Tusker House and Flame Tree BBQ, who would want to? :D ) As has been mentioned, I don't unpack the cooler at counter-service restaurant tables unless the area is empty, and have always found several good places to eat. I like to bring a lunch because we are a family of five-going-on-six (in May) and what I save on lunch, I spend on snacks. <G> So, my kids are guaranteed at least a small amount of healthy food and I have $$ in the budget for a Mickey bar or a Dole Whip or a funnel cake at Epcot.
