My neice is planning a budget trip to DL over Christmas/New Year's, and I am wondering people are still allowed to bring food into the parks? She said the website says no way, and yet when we were there almost 2 years ago (boo hoo - way too long ago for me!!), we had no trouble bringing in snacks and drinks, as long as there were no glass bottles.

Has anything changed, or can they pack food to bring in order to keep costs down?

Thanks!

While large rolling coolers are not allowed, Disney tends to "look the other way" when guest bring outside food. My sister frequently brings a small "lunchbox" sized cooler with sandwiches and juice boxes. It is discreetly tucked away in the stroller and no CM has ever said anything about it. Disney asks that you use the picnic area just outside the park, but my sis and her family always eat in the park and it has never been a problem.

We went in June with friends on a tight budget. Each day they brought in sandwiches, juice boxes, snacks, chips etc in their children's soft sided lunchboxes tucked into their backpack. Security saw this everyday but never said a word. At lunch time, their family would sit on a bench near ROA and eat their lunches.

If you call or email Disney they will tell you no. However none of the park CMs will say anything unless you try to bring in a full size, hard sided cooler.

We always bring in lots of snacks, soda cans, powerade, fruit, fast food burgers, and have never had any issues. Each person has their own supply but we usually pack one back pack with food and drinks only which the cast members do check and see. On different occasions we have asked about their policy and what is acceptable and we've been told: no glass containers or bottles of any kind (no glass period), no alcoholic beverages. Smaller coolers are accepted, but the real small kind like ones small enough to fit a six pack of soda cans only, or small collapsible coolers - each person could totally pack an individual lunch and bring it in with them.

Also, each individual fruit inside the park costs $1.75, bottled water I think is now $3.00, fountain soda I believe is still $2.75 but did bottled soda recently go up to $3.00 as well?

We normally pack in a lunch as well and have never had any issues. Sandwiches, fruit/veggie, some kind of sweet thing (pudding, candy, fruit snacks, etc) and water. I also usually carry jerky and jelly belly's in my backpack just in case one of needs something quickly.

We've never had any problems bringing snack foods and water bottles into the parks. You should be fine. Enjoy your trip!

We take in our own drinks, snacks and we've even carried leftovers around with us. LOL As long as we've not had any glass we've been OK. :) My favorite was after eating in DTD we had some leftovers from RFC, the CM's on the monorail were trying to get us to share. LOL

We just returned from an 8 night trip to DL on Friday. I took food, mostly snacks (granola bars, peanuts, apples) into the parks most everyday as well as my own cans of soda and water bottles. It was never a problem. I saw so many people eating their own food at the restaurant tables and on benches etc. I've done this for years and so have most other people!

The prices of food have really gone up so I was glad I had some items to supplement and help our budget.

The prices have gone up, but the quality has gone down!
For the most part, except for a few locations, DL food is not that great IMO.
We've had better lunches brought from home and tucked into a locker with a freezer pack for the day.

One could always argue that you require a special diet - low fat, gluten free, casein free, additive free, HFCS free, low carb, "OMG I'm not spending that much" diet, etc. :thumbsup2

I have brought in snacks and water before, and on more than one trip at that. Never a problem. Just remember not to bring in any glass containers. I would imagine baby food is safe though. ;)

Or any kind of knives...I brought on the big sharable-size sandwich from Von's once, so did an extra close up check of my bag to make sure I didn't have a knife. I was planning on just tearing it, but the CM suggested we stop at one of the resturaunts and grab a plastic knife.
we eat at tables, but always at off-peak times so we aren't taking the tables away from the cash customers.

Nope, baby food must be removed from the glass containers and be put in plastic containers instead. Absolutely NO glass is allowed in the parks.

we were in the parks just over 2 weeks ago. Brought in water in plastic bottles and sandwiches in plastic sandwich boxes (so they wouldn't get smashed in our backpack).
No problems other than the normal bag check before the turnstiles.

we also brought in some prepackaged snacks...next time we are going to bring in more with us...
With our sandwiches we just grabbed an order of fries one day at Taste Pilots along with a shared soda...
We did the same basic thing all three days were were there for lunch. Went back to the hotel and ate at Cheese Cake Factory one nite, California Pizza Kitchen one nite and PF Changs the other nite. It was nice to get away from the parks for awhile where it was much quieter.;)

This may be the policy, but I brought baby food in glass jars last month and nobody said anything.

You must have had a "nice" CM who didn't mind breaking the rules. We've been many times over the past couple of years and plenty of times CM's have said "no glass" to parents regarding baby food jars. And a few times we overheard CM's say to parents "hey, you've done this before, you've got your baby food in plastic. Thank You." So, it is glass and they are not supposed to allow it in......

We go every year and haven't had any trouble bringing in food and water bottles. Everything is in plastic, so I don't know about glass.

We brought jars of glass baby food into the park on at least 9 different days last spring and not one single cm made any comment. I believe they allow the tiny baby food jars. However no other glass items will be allowed in. We always bring a bottle of water and juice boxes for the kids, no issues. Enjoy your visit!!
