Hi Everyone - I just just wondering what you think of this Idea. I am in the planning stages for 2006 - Each of my children (1 DD and 1 DS) have big birthdays. My Dd will be 13 and my Ds will be 10 . Their Birthdays are 6 weeks apart Dd is Mid Nov and Ds is Early Oct. I was thinking I could take them each on a trip for their Birthday - Right now its looking as if they would both miss about 2.5 days of school, we could attend the Halloween party in Oct and the Xmas party in Late Nov, we have Hoppers so don't need reg tickets, I would have to get airfare (1 more then normal as I would have to go on both trips LOL :rotfl: ) we would stay at a value during value season and use Magical express. I am coming up about $1000 per trip (our normal trip is anywhere from 7-10 days $2000 to 2500 per trip) Would you do it? Oh incase it matters I am a single mom and travel with the 2 of them all the time but we don't get alot of one on one time. Thanks for your input Michelle

I say go for it. I'm a single mom and I know it's hard to spend one on one time. I'm taking only one son on this trip while the other stays with grandma.

Great bonding idea! I just took DD solo for her 5th birthday and will take 2-year-old DS solo for his 5th. Age 5 is a milestone to me because it's our last chance to vacation without worrying about that darn school schedule. Anyway, DD and I had a fabulous time and really got some great one-on-one time. It's nice to only have to factor in one child's opinion when deciding where to go and what to do. In our case, we got to spend lots more time with the Princesses than usual!

The way you are planning to do this also eliminates any hard feelings the Unbirthday Child may have on the Birthday Child's big day. You may want to have a small bday celebration each time you return so the siblings can share cake and acknowledge each other's bdays.

Who will be watching the child that remains at home? If it's a family member or special friend, they will get to enjoy some special bonding time as well. A great idea, all around! Hey, and you get two trips out of it. Pretty smart...

hi. most likely they will hang out with my sister for a few days then head off to their dad's house.
