Does anyone know how much it costs to down load pictures to a cd?
Can you do it at the resorts?
Are there any other options? Please inform!!?!!

Do you have a laptop to bring? This is what I do, I bring my laptop and then everyday transfer the pictures to my computer so I can free my memory card.

I do not have a laptop. Does anyone know if it is free to use the computers at the resorts or anywhere else and download to a site for free storage? Any input, I'm not to familar with this.

One thing you can do is go to one of the photo shops and have them transfer your pictures to CD for you. I don't recall what it costs, but they'll take care of downloading from your card to cd and then you'll have the cd all set when you get home.
As far as using the resort computers, I don't think they allow you to use them for anything but airline check-in.

Cost to use a computer at a business center on property is $10 for 15 mins. To have your images downloaded to a CD is around $12.

Personally I would buy an extra memory card or two. They are pretty cheap and then you wouldn't have to worry about burning the images to a CD. Then you have to be careful that you don't break the CD on the way home.

I was going to suggest getting your pictures copied to a CD too! Thats what I did last Thanksgiving. I had 2 memory cards one is 256 and the other came with the camera. The bigger card was full so I took it to the camera shop at MGM and they made the CD's for me. I didnt think it cost 12 bucks. I was thinking 6.99 per CD. They were ready after 5 pm which was perfect. I carried the CD's on the plane in my carry on. Take a hard back book along and stick them in there for the ride home. Then I just took the CD to wal mart and had the prints made from the cd. Worked out just fine. They have a camera center at each of the parks too!!

First off, manage your settings on your camera. There's no need to take a picture with a greater resolution than 2.3 MegaPixels as that's all you'll need to get photo-quality 8 x 10 prints.

Second, get a large storage card - 512 MB - that should give you enough storage for most of your needs.

My suggestions have already been mentioned. We brought a laptop. But I was going to say that you should either just buy a few more memory sticks, or have your photos transfered to CD's.

Downloading pictures from your digital camera's memory card can be done at the camera shops in all 4 theme parks for $12.77 incl. tax, limit 120 pics. It can't be done at the resorts.

If you have a car, you can also download at any Walgreens for only $2.99 per CD, for as many pics as the CD will hold. Walgreens photo centers in teh WDW area are also open 24 hours a day, making it easy to download even in the middle of the night.

I'm sure this was a rare occurence. However, last year we had 2 different disers lose their photos. They had them burned to CD at the Disney photo shops. Only when they got home the photo's weren't there.

I bought 3 additional memory cards off ebay. All for about 1/2 the price at the store. I've had them for 1-2 yrs each and they all work great.

I replied to your other thread about this, but you may want to think of investing in a portable digital storage unit. Check out http://www.mydigitaldiscount.com under portable storage units.

They're not that expensive and you get 20-80 gb worth of space without needing a computer. The Compact Drive PD7X uses regular rechargeable batteries and the other ones have built-in rechargeable batteries. The Apacer Steno is another good buy and not that expensive.

This way you're not limited to just burning to CDs or getting more memory cards and you can fit thousands and thousands of pictures, even at the highest setting. Also, you'll be able to take it with you wherever you go in the future.

Another option would be to borrow some cards from a friend...I've got two 256's and two 128's, but I'm gonna borrow two more 128's from a friend and I may end up buying another 256. Try meritline .com, they tend to have the high speed SD's fairly cheap (but they carry others too).

Last year, we brought the laptop and uploaded our pictures every night. We just recently bought a new memory card that holds 800 pictures. I may still bring the laptop though. I wonder if I'll take 800 pictures??? :earsboy:

Wow, how many pictures do you take? I have a 128mb that holds 318 at 2M-N setting. I usually take around 200.

A 512 MB memory card was perfect for us. We had it set on the second highest resolution (our camera is 3.2 megapixels) and it could hold more than 900 pictures. And yes, I took more than 900 pictures during our 8-day trip, heh.

All of my suggestions have been mentioned. I purchased a portable memory card reader off of QVC

media gear memory

I bring 2- 256 cards, and 1- 512 card and the portable memory holds up to 10,000 pic depending on the pixels used for your pics.

I have also had a cd burned at MGM and made it home w/o problems.

good luck.

A heck of a lot! LOL! I like to over take and then edit when I get home...but I personally don't like the bigger mb cards because if something happens to the card, you've lost all your pics (read too many horror stories on the boards as well as horror stories about burning them to disc at Disney and then getting home and they're not there). I like to spread them out over many different cards. I can't afford a laptop and have been "collecting" cards over a couple of years now (two cards came from a friend who bought a different camera and didn't have a use for her SD's, so she gave em to me).

I'd be so lost without my laptop. I have a 3mp Canon S1 IS that I just got and 2 256mb cards. This June I took a total of 3200 pictures over 9 days - that's with losing about 70 pictures because of bad batteries. I used my highest setting which gave me 154 pictures per card and I used up both cards on one afternoon at Epcot during the Flower & Garden Festival. I actually had to go back to the hotel, download it and have both ready for the evening.

Now, I know I'm not going to print or even use all 3200 prints, but that's the beauty of digital, I can take all the pictures I want at no extra cost! Heck, I had about 342 pics just on food for the food picture thread. Even now, I'm already thinking of the shots I missed or need reshoots on our next trip.
