What has been experience lately bringing back any liquor bottles (full, of course) back on the plane to the U.S.? Just wondering how the airlines are with that (Delta or USAir in particular) any help would be greatly appreciated.

I haven't done it lately, but I once (7/97) brought back about 12 bottles of wine through my carry-on. The airport personnel didn't say a word about it (they were probably too busy betting on much my hernia operation would cost :()

I am just wondering what the stipulations are since the 9/11 situation. Thought they may not allow it on carry-ons. Any answers???

That would be a good question for the airlines. I know when I have flown even this past month and had an unopened soda once, and an unopened water bottle another time, I had to open the bottle and drink from it in front of security. That is standard procedure, I believe since 9/11.

We just came back yesterday from a 4 day get-away in Ft lauderdale. In flying home we saw several people onboard and at the airport with cruise line carry boxes filled with bottles of booze.

Sorry, can't help you w/Delta or US Air, but had no problem on our Oct. British Air flight to England or our Nov Cont. flight to Calif. with carry on or check in luggage w/wine.

Having just returned from a 7 day Disney cruise, I had no problem bringing back an opened bottle of Southern Comfort in my carry-on luggage (this was on Northwest Airlines). I specifically asked one of the airport security people (not the police or military personnel) about it and they *thought* that only alcohol above 100 proof would be a problem in carry-on bags.

Interestingly enough, we did get pulled aside during our security checkin at the terminal. The problem? A 5 inch long el-cheapo plastic knife that one of my kids bought as part of a Captain Hook costume. It looked about as much like a real knife as a pencil, but they did confiscate it and throw it away. The family travelling with us also had one of these "knives" in their carry-on and made it through the check without problems, and also checked luggage would not have been a problem either.

Just FYI....

Cheers...

Walter

We flew back from our cruise less then 3 weeks after tragic attack of 9/11. There was a box of confiscated eyebrow tweezers, nail clippers etc., yet they allowed my adult dtr. to carry on a lg. bottle of rum in her carry-on backpack. She also had a carton of bottles she carried on with no problem. You'll be fine.
