DD will be 7.5 months when we go to WDW next month. I don't know what she'll be doing developmentally (crawling, sitting, etc.). Now she basically spends her time between her swing, her bouncy seat, her high chair, on the floor both on her tummy and her back playing with her play gym and of course in our arms!! I am wondering, what will we do with her at the resort. Keeping her on the bed makes me nervous, she is already turning over and I am not too keen on having her on the floor since I know the rooms are small and I don't think I'll be able to contain her to a blanket.

Has anyone rented anything from one of those baby equipment rental sites? I was thinking of an exasaucer. I think we are running out of room in the SUV for anything else!!!

Are you statying on site? Get a pack and play then from the resort at no charge.

My son is 7.5 months right now.

I was just commenting to my husband tonight that I can't believe the changes in the past 2 weeks. He started sitting up at 5 months, but other than that he was fairly immobile. Suddenly he crawls, pulls himself up to his knees and has started pulling up to a standing position. Now that he has become so mobile he hates the exersaucer and doesn't love the playpen unless there are toys in it.

I would skip the rental.

We plan to stop at Walmart and buy some toys when we get there.

We faced the same problem last summer with an almost 9 month old. We drove down from NJ so I was very concerned that she wouldn't be getting any exercise. She was crawling, but not pulling up to stand (although she learned that skill on vacation in the hotel), and definitely not ready to walk. She also would not stay on a blanket on the floor for more than two seconds.

At first it grossed me out letting her crawl around on the floor so I tried covering as much as possible with blankets and towels. I even brought a few of those "neat sheets" you can buy at the supermarket. It was pointless. She ended up crawling around everywhere anyway. I finally gave up and let her go. The disney hotels are very clean as far as hotels go and she is my third child so I'm a little more willing to let things go at this point. Now if she were my first, I probably would have been a lot more cautious, lol!

Your 7.5 month old will probably be crawling all over the place by then. The bed will definitely be a no-no. If she will stay in the pack n play with a few toys, that would be you best option. Personally, I found the exersaucer to be too bulky to bring with us and my third wanted to be OUT be that age. If you have the room and your little one is still content in hers, you might want to throw it in. I believe my first still enjoyed hers at 7 months. My second one would rock his until it tipped over from about 6 months on so we didn't use it much for him :sad2: . My third just wanted to be out with the older kids. She still doesn't realize she is only 1 :thumbsup2 .

I will tell you a great investment--that you will use for at least 2 years--is a bed rail. We got an Elmo one from WalMart for between 15 and 20 dollars. So at least while your little one naps, etc. you won't have to worry about her rolling off the bed. I have used ours too many times to count. Great to take when vacationing and to the grandparents'. Have a wonderful trip!

The resorts have these too so if you dont want to buy them you can ask for one from them.

When we took DS#2 at 7 1/2 months he had just started sitting up and pulling up, both almost instantly. He spent time in the stroller and front pack when out and about. In the hotel room he was in the pack-n-play and we brought the jumpy thing that hooks over doorway openings (bathroom) so he could get exercise. It packs well (fairly small & flat) and is a heck of a lot cheaper than renting the exersaucer. You can purchase them at Babies-R-Us, Toys-R-Us and even Walmart & Target. My second didn't even like the exersaucer but loved this.
