Knifes, as in weapons, are not allowed on board (thank goodness).

However, this is my dilemma:
We're cruising in the second week of a three week vacation. On vacation I like to bring a tomato knife to cut fruits and vegetables. It's about 4 inches long, not pointed and of little use/threat as a weapon...
Since I have no place to "stash" the knife during our cruise, I'd like to bring it on board.

Have any of you brought something similar, or should I leave the knife at home?

I wouldn't chance it if the knife was important to me. There is a good chance it will be confiscated. It may not be pointy, but that serrated edge could do serious damage.

It's still a knife and they will probably take it. However, you should be able to get it back at the end of the cruise.

Any thing they confiscate they give back at the end of the cruise. There will be a table set up in the terminal. The hard thing is remembering to pick it up.

I forgot I had a lil swiss army knife in my backback pocket

blade was less than 1 inch long

ALARM ALARM .... DANGER WILL ROBINSON .. DANGER
even the security guy was embarrassed BUUUTTTTTT . . .

I'd buy a cheap one to use up to the cruise then toss it .....

while it is NOT a big deal, avoiding stress and complications during the boarding process is not a bad idea ...

especially one that can be avoided by a trip to the Dollar Store

I say order something from room service and request a cutting knife,,then just keep it for the length of your cruise.

Security will confiscate any knife that does not "break" in half. Hubby took a Swiss Army on by accident. Was pulled aside to go through bag. Security allowed it on because it "broke"- folded. Any other knife will not be allowed on board.

Except that others have had their Swiss Army knives not allowed (see Capt_BJ's post above).

T1nkerBell, I also like to travel with a knife for cutting my limes! But, I think I have a solution for you. Just stop at something like a Dollar Tree and buy an inexpensive knife before and after your cruise.
