Bringing a Keurig

We have been getting the Starbucks for about a month now. We got the Breakfast Blend first and now Pike Place Roast...soooo good! Be great to grab a cup in the room before heading out to the parks.:yay:

I realize that there is no way to compare the number of rooms between the Uuniversal Studios hotels and the DVC rooms, but just saying it sure was nice having the mini Keurig in our hotel room at Universal and they supplied at least 6 or so Keurig cups each day.

We take our full size Keurig when we drive to HHI. We initially bought the mini when we were at HHI and didnt like it from a hassle standpoint, so we upgraded to the full size.

I'm so glad you posted that. We are considering an Owners Locker and though I know the value of it, I'm trying to really think about what I would put in it. I was thinking a George Foreman grill, coffee filters, shampoos, etc. Would you mind sharing what you suggest keeping in yours? Would some pajamas, flip flops make sense? I don't want to get one if it really doesn't make sense for us, but I think it will in the long run. Thanks!

It doesn't take long to fill up an Owners Locker. I like to keep an extra pair of tennis shoes & flip flops, reg size shampoo, cond, shampoo, cold pills, aspirin, brita water filter, band aids, deoderant, over the door shoe organizer, etc. I'd like to store a mini keurig but I don't have room.

I thought the rooms at AKL were getting the Cuisant Pods for new coffee makers. Is that like the Keurig:confused3

We had garden grocer buy us a full sized one at SAMs club last November. We shipped it home, and my mom kept it as one of her Christmas presents.

This year, I'm planning to bring the starbucks instants.

I always do a search before posting a question but thought the Kuerig question was too random, lol that will teach me. Obviously there is interest. I will have to check out the rental cost/conditions for the lockers. Would be nice if Disney offered it by request, don't they do that with blenders?

My husband is going to think I'm crazy that after years of lurking on here I finally joined to post about my Keurig!

Anyway, Personal Disney Shopper rents a Keurig for $25. Look her up!

I've joked for a while that when I win the lottery I'm getting an OL just for my Disney Keurig. I guess I'm not as crazy as I thought! :)

Im also really annoyed that Disney "wasted" good money on the cuisinart senso pod coffee makers when they get such poor reviews and senso pods are going the way of cassette tapes. Why not just spend the money and upgrade to Keurig that is far more popular and offers far more options? Seems like good customer service to me.

The pod brewers would be in the hotel side and room rates cover that expense.

Equipment for DVC Villas is paid for from our dues. Keurig brewers are expensive and even with any discount DVC would get, it would still be a very expensive purchase. Even though I'm a Keurig owner, I don't want my dues spent to purchase Keurig brewers for the villas.

I've resisted buying a Keurig because I drink too much coffee in the morning. DH and I just pack some good ground coffee and filters and enjoy good coffee all week. I did think all the resorts were going with the Cuisinart single serve makers. Can those use K-cups?

Interesting. That's the first time I remember hearing "Cuisinart." Yes. that's what I have since my last Keurig blew up 3 years ago and I LOVE it. MUCH better than the Keurig brewer, IMO (At least one of my original Platinums had a LOT of problems. I'm sure the newer ones are much better. Tech support pretty much told me so in no uncertain terms but would never replace mine, hence the Cuisinart.).

As for the previous poster's comments, I would suspect that the hotel side would pay for the upgrades to the coffeemakers. I'm sure we would have to pay maintenance and replacement costs but since they rent the rooms, maybe they would pay the up-fronts costs? :confused3

DVC would definately cover 100% of the costs of any upgrade at the DVC resorts, such as OKW and SSR. So as that ol' Disney song goes . . . I owe, I owe, so off to work I go . .

Even if DVC were able to get the Keurig maker cheap (say $50) it would cost nearly $40,000 to replace bring in Keurig just at OKW.

We leave for WDW in about a month and I'll be taking my brand new mini Keurig in my carry-on bag. It's not too heavy and hopefully won't be too much of a hassle. It'll be great to have an enjoyable cup of coffee before we hit the parks!:thumbsup2 Not considering OL because I plan on using the Keurig at times other than when at WDW.

What I am doing is I ordered another Owner's Locker, my other one was getting too full. I am bringing my mini Kreurig still in its original packaging in a separate suitcase. I fly Southwest and we only bring one suitcase usually. I'm a fan of pack less and do a load of laundry while staying DVC. Also, the empty suitcase will hold the gifts for my sons.

Nolanboys, no, the new cuisinart machines (so far only in hotel rooms) take Senso pods, not K-Cups (or so I've read - we are DVC so I haven't used one yet).

As for how our DVC dues are used... Probably not the best investment, but it would sure make me happy to have a Keurig in my room rather than the cheap drip coffee makers. Maybe the new Starbucks coffee locations will help meet my coffee needs!

Renting a Keurig may be the best option as opposed to lugging one across country! Save that room for more Disney goodies on the way home! Several places rent the Keurigs and offer free delivery. We like Fairy Godmother On-the-Go. They are around $30 for the week. :)

I would absolutely love DVC to put Keurigs in all the villas. :goodvibes I have a personal Keurig in my Owners Locker but would love a bigger one and have the space in the OL for other things.

No Keurig at DVC for me please, never had a decent cup of coffee out of one of these machines.
