Bringing a dog to WDW resort?

I went over all the paperwork and nowhere on there did it say that the dogs needed to be in a crate while inside the cabin. We were only there two days so I did not expect housekeeping as they only come every other day. The guy actually did come in the cabin while we were gone. I had both dogs in the room. One was in a crate as she is basically a puppy still and the other one is older doesn’t chew or damage anything he was just hanging out so I did not crate him as I did not think that was necessary according to the paperwork. They did not mention at all an inspection or I would have totally scheduled it. We were in and out all day. I do not leave my dogs more than three hours at a time. The guy had to of entered the cabin and went into the bedroom, saw the big dog looks like might’ve freaked out because he walked on the dog beds that were in the living room, leaving huge male footprints all over the dog beds. I do not have a problem crating my dogs if that was what was necessary and if I ever stay the cabins going forward, I would definitely crate them, knowing that they could come in why I am not there. I am sure that the guy was very scared. I have a very large dog 130 pounds. Communication is key had they told me all this information this would not have been a problem for me. This is why I am letting other people know if you go. I would definitely crate the dogs just in case someone comes in.

Also, we were up there about 7 to 8 times a year in our RV and they do not inspect the RVs.

Again, I'm sorry this happened to you. I'm also sorry that I mistakenly thought the CM did not enter your cabin while you were out. As I said before, you are correct in that you do NOT have to crate your dog when he/she is inside your cabin, even when the humans are not present. My understanding (as explained to me by Front Desk staff on our very first visit), is that CMs will not enter your cabin without you present when you have the dog hanger on your door. This is for their own safety as well as the safety of your dogs. I would definitely let Disney know about this incident by documenting it in the survey you will receive. I'm sure they would want to know so they can prevent this from happening to another family.

I can see that since the room check requirement wasn't explained to you and you didn't need housekeeping, you wouldn't know that you had to call and schedule the check. You are so right that communication is key. I'm glad you shared your experience here so that others will know to call and schedule the room check each day.
