Bring your own pool toys?

Call Shirley to talk about what she can get for the baskets. What is available changes and she could help you with suggestions of what to fill the basket with. She is great to work with! :)

+1!

Here's some of the sand toys available at one of the two shops on Castaway Cay.

It is a nice assortment...and very colorful picture. If I bought all 5 kids a bucket and shovel there, it would probably cost me at least $60...lol. Then I'd have to find room for those big things to go home.

LOL, Truthfully, they weren't that expensive. I'd have to dig out my reciepts if I could find them, but the nemo buckets were only about $6ish and the mickey shovels were under $5. The smaller buckets were less than that. I myself was pleasantly surprised with the prices. :)

The nemo buckets are adorable and yes they were $5.95 - we also got a nemo floatie for $2-3.
Next time I will look into perfect gift as well - it would be good to have some stuff for the other port stops too.

That isn't a bad deal. If I was only buying for 2 or maybe 3 kids, I would probably consider that. But even at $10 per child (for bucket and shovel), that's $50 and I have to find room for those big shovels coming home...or the Nemo buckets w/shovel would be $30 (as I said, not too bad). For $10 total, I can get 5 buckets and 5 shovels at target...and they stack nicely, taking up very little room.

They have cute Nemo beach balls too for a couple bucks. We didn't use ours though because is was WAY too windy the day we were there.

I just want to warn anyone who is pre-ordering beach baskets to be delivered to your room by an outside company that we never received ours on our 2/20 cruise on the Dream. After the cruise Shirley said that those were some of her first deliveries to the new ship- so make sure that the deliveries have been going smoothly since then. My sister had ordered the beach toys as a b-day gift for my son, so she had to deal with getting a refund, and it wasn't as straight foward as it should have been. I am sure that the vast majority of deliveries to the ship make it onboard- but understand that if they don't Disney is NOT responsible. If you pre-order the Disney beach toys to be delivered to your stateroom you know that they will make it there or can be sent while onboard. I'm pretty sure that I saw an option on the DCL website under gift packages.

A lot of people bring or buy beach toys and then just leave them around on the beach. The island crew cleans them up and they go to the kid programming on the island....and if you talk to a CM there, they will frequently let you borrow a few things.

See I read this before and asked when I was there a month ago and they said no they could not lend out the buckets becasue they don't have many. But we could come in and play in the club.

I think all the extra stuff went to the Cabana's. :lmao:

The Nemo bucket/shovel was actually $5.95 . Cheaper than paying for a small pail and shovel separate which was close to $10. And the bucket is so cute.

In your case though , good call on the Target ones. :thumbsup2

I went to Target this afternoon and bought my grand-daughter a packaged pail and a shovel and a sand toy for $3.99. Its small but will go in the suit case with no problems and I bought her a pair of the swimmies that go on her arms for $2.99. She's set to go.

I brought some from home since we did beaches at the other ports before CC. However, at CC, the biggest hit with my young kids was the beer bucket. DH and FIL got a couple of buckets of beer and once they were gone, we emptied the ice and the kids played with the buckets the rest of the day.
